snagged three, parents took one, sister took one

actually my dad got all three and gave one to me and one to my sis. 😛

laser printers rock, how's your HP?

He won't be. He'll get a printer and make the slaes person to give him two toners for free. With luck and the power of a Grand Nagus, he would be getting 50 bucks in MIR. 😀

i'm jealous, but not quite so jealous as rossman since i get canon printers at half off 🙂

I liked my NEC superscript except for the fact that it has a REALLY weak fuser. ANything heavier than 20lb paper would smear.

My school's technicians are freakin geniuses. I'm up here in the residence halls computer lab and I'm printing 275 of absolutely blank pages because I have no paper for my laser printer. They lock up the paper trays with padlocks but this works beautifully. 🙂

Dumb ass.

Just rolling that paper through the printer is going to make it more likely to jam your printer. Not to mention unnecessary wear on a decent printer and energy wasted.

You're basically bragging about petty theft. Go spend a couple bucks to buy a ream.

running up the click counts, fuser wear, and it isn't really good to run paper that has already been through a fuser and all that heat.

I bought one HP 5 Si Mx LaserJet for $10 and got four more for free. I got so many in order to harvest their toner. Now I have one, my parents have one, I gave one to a friend, I sold one to another friend, and the last one was used for spare parts, but actually still works. Here are some stats on these babies:

Introduced: 6-Nov-1995
HP LaserJet 5Si MX printer U.S. introduction price: US$4,899
Here is a picture of one (scroll down)
HP LaserJet 5SI, and 5SI MX printer description: The HP LaserJet 5Si, and 5Si MX printers are high-volume, 600 dots per inch (dpi), and 24 ppm machines designed to handle the printing needs of large networks and departments. Each features advanced paper handling capacity: up to 1,100 sheets standard input and up to 3,100 sheets with optional accessories. An optional Multi-Bin Mailbox increases output capacity from the standard 600 sheets to 2,600 sheets. Each printer handles a variety of media sizes including Letter, Legal, A4, Executive, JIS B4, JIS B5, 11 x 17, A3 and multiple envelope sizes. The HP LaserJet 5Si printer comes with 45 fonts, 35 Intellifont and 10 TrueType (TM). The HP LaserJet 5Si MX printer comes with 80 fonts (35 Adobe Type 1, 35 Intellifont, and 10 TrueType).

The HP LaserJet 5Si MX printer features additional memory and genuine Adobe PostScript Level 2 language as well as an HP Jetdirect print server card for Ethernet (10Base2 and 10Base-T) and LocalTalk (DIN-8) interfaces. All interfaces on both printers are bidirectional and simultaneously active, switching automatically to the port that is receiving data.
