>>It's not their place to tell you what you can and can't access.

Um, but they do it. I have several friends that work at Universities who MONITOR web traffic. All they have to do is pull up a specific screen and it shows them what any individual is viewing.

Your(anybody else see the irony here?) And yes I am ;)

But I have no problem with people using napster to d/l MP3's or rather using it for any purpose, I do that also. But what I'm pissed off about is they leave it on 24/7 when their not using it, just clogging the network for no reason.

Why don't you start a petition to block napster tonight. Take it all around the dorm, and make sure you bring your post with you. Read it to them in your firmest post-pubertal voice and then ask them to sign the form. This is a great way to meet people!

If you read my post carefully you would have noticed that I said I would be "lucky to hit 100kb/s off peak", meaning that I usually don't even hit 100kb/s during off peak hours at 3am, let alone normal useage.

It's not that what I'm getting isn't fast enough for me, it's just that I pay money to go here and I should be able to use all it's resources to its full potential, instead of a measly 1/6.

It's not like I got 600kb/s on every download before, I said I have gotten upto 600kb/s before. Average was usually 100-300kb/s before and now 15-50kb/s.

And I don't believe petitions would do anything but waste my time. The technical department here is so disorganized that I wouldn't even be able to give the petitions to anyone who can really do anything about it. I should know, I worked for ResNet which is our ISP for the residential dorms.
