I HIT AN EAGLE TODAY

OMFG, Eagle and Birdie back to back.

what a great great day, then i hit a 7 on the next hole. 🙁

94 for the round, not a great score but i'm staying in the 90's and even hit an 86 the other day.

not bad for a first year golfer. 😉

forgot to describe the eagle.

i hit a beautiful drive on a short par 4, about 265 yrds. it crests at about 190 and slopes to the green with a dogleg left. bunkers on the left.

i hit the ball just right of the pin, drove it long it took a good bounce and rolled onto the green within 6" of the pin.

we get down there and the guys before us are more excited than we are, they were like OMFG you almost hit a hole in one.

here i am apologizing because i drove up on them and they are just congratulating me.

then the very next hole, 206 yd par three, i hit my tee shot to within 2 feet of the pin, they are watching from the next tee box cheering because my tee shot rolled just past the pin.

eagle and birdie back to back.

amazing.

WTF? I clicked on this thread hoping to hear an elaborate story of how a Bald-Headed Eagle flew smack into your windshield
:frown:

Edit: And yeah, woo-hoo!

I, too, was here for a tale of carnage.

Ban! :|

EDIT: You still deserve one despite adding that subtitle... unless you go outside, shoot a bald eagle, and post plenty of :camera:'s.

265 yard par 4?? is this a muni? that doesnt count! 😛

dang you I havent had an eagle yet

http://www.makefieldhighlands.com

public course but a nice public course, slope rating is only 119 for white but not easiest course i play.

again, it does present some challenges because of the bunkers, dogleg etc. but ya, it is pretty short and drivable for decent players.

now tell us about the 7

the 7 was on probably the hardest hole on the course, it's a par 4 on most courses would probably be a par 5.

380 yds from the white, but it's only 380 yds if you hit 2 perfect shots.

from the tee box, you have to carry at least 180 to get over a stream and associated brush onto the fairway where it doglegs left oh ya, it's also uphill so it plays closer to 200 to carry.

i tried to get on the left part of the fairway and left myself on the bank short of the fairway, leaving me a very tough uphill lie in the rough about 200 short of the green.

from there you have to hit over water, from where i was you had to hit 190 to clear the water onto a relatively short green.

my second shot comes out of the rough and stays right of the hole and falls about 80 yrds short of the pin.

i mis hit and end up short of the water, hit pitching wedge over the water and into the rough on the other side of the green.

from there i chip on.

two put from there gives me my 7.

rough hole.

i bought the callaway X 460. i paid $185 shipped for it on Ebay.

9 degree, stiff shaft.

Anyone else ever skip their ball across the water hazard and up onto the green? A few courses I played at had a small pond/water hazard blocking the right 2/3rds of the approach to the greens. It was a par 4, and I got to about 20 yards in front of the water in two shots. I was just going to chip it up onto the green and instead i hit the ball square with my iron sending it line driving into the water, it skipped up onto the green and left me an easy par shot.

not that, but the other day i hit a ball into the water just at the far edge and it actually BOUNCED back out of the water. must have hit a rock.

but it fell in like 3" from the bank.
