A bit of background info.

Whenever i look up some subject on youtube and the next time i connect to the website of youtube, i get sort of similar choices presented by the search algorithm used by youtube.

When i search for music, this is definitely not the case.
I recently came to discover a song from Alexis Jordan called happiness.
And yesterday i looked it up. Now i connect to youtube, and i would expect similar Alexis Jordan music.

But i get what is promoted instead :

Justin Bieber.
Britney spears.
The freshmen and nino.
Rihanna.
Gaga.

With this kind of music, i start to believe that 2012 prophecies are real and the end of the world is nigh.

Of course i fully understand the music companies pushing it for maximum plugging. And these companies pay youtube. It is similar as when a company would pay Google or other search agents to be listed first in search queries. I can live with this as long as other possible companies or websites are not intentionally hidden from the public. For example company A can pay the search agent to be first in a search query and to give company B a negative flag or search result meaning that it ends up at the bottom of the search query results.

But i feel that with music, this is definitely the case.

If you want closer matches to the music you enjoy, YouTube probably isn't the place to go. Pandora is much better.

I really only go to YouTube to get specific songs I already have in mind.
