I recently got a really good deal on 2 30gb drives.
My system also has a 1tb sata drive. I plan on using the ssds for the boot drive (prolly windows 7)

Should I stripe them? Keep them separate?

EDIT: I striped them. Results:

Unless you have two systems you want to use them for, i'd say RAID-0 them.

It's not like you're going to be using them for backup :p

Could you do us a favor and run crystaldiskmark on your 3xraid0 array and post a screen-capture (or just tell us the numbers) like this?

I just got everything setup myself. This is from 2x Vertex drives raid 0. Default windows 7 installation. No changed options, firmware 1.10

Those are beautiful numbers, redbeard. What raid controller? Onboard?
If so, this is tempting.

Just for fun I dug my old screenshot of quad-Raptors RAID0 on ICH7R.

Awesome Performance

OS was pre-SP1 Vista. The grinding noise literally didn't stop even for a few seconds and was completely unbearable. Glad I got rid of them while they were worth something.

Congrats on your purchase, OP, and enjoy the quietness of SSDs!

Not trying to thread crap but how much additional performance can one expect from RAID 0 on a SSD vs an HDD?

Percentage-wise, is it the same?

What is that percent increase?

Out of curiosity, what do single drive numbers look like? Trying to figure out the performance difference between going 4X 60, going 2X 120, or just getting a 250 gb. Any suggestions?

Nope. Just a dark blonde haired poster that gets reddish facial hair

I think HOO was referring to the AT member named "RedBeard" who works for Corsair, not the real life pirate... ;)
