I have too (2) many speakers including the Compag PS330 set...need advice!

I finally got my Compaq PS330's in the mail today 🙂 but I'm afraid to open it 🙁.

"Why?" you ask.

Because it's now the 3rd set of speakers I own and I'm not sure what to do with 2 of them.

I can use the best of them and sell off the other two...or I can sell off all 3 and get the Klipsch's I've been drooling over for a while. Or I can sell one, use one, and give the other one to a nice homeless guy I pass every day walking to class.

*sigh*

What would you do?

BTW, the three I have are:

Compaq PS330
Boston Acoustic Media Theater
Cambridge Soundworks CSW200

I'm in the same boat, I have

-Yamaha YST-MS50
-Labtec Pulse 424
-two! pairs of Aura Aspect 30 (with only one sub though)
-Boston Acoustics Media Theater

but here's what you can do.. you can sell the Compaq pair to me since Insight canceled my order!! 😀

connect them all together have a 12 speakers setup in your room
that's what I have

Puaha! That would be make sense if I were more than one person and I had a bigger room...From the experiences I've had with combining speaker sets (In the dorms and mostly to annoy the people below us 🙂), they're good for making sure you have constant sound throughout the room but do little to make the total sound better. I could be wrong though; I only did it with two cheap sets of Cambridge's before so it's sorta limited what I've experienced.

<< What would you do? >>

Quit buying things I dont need.

I would but I can't!

Come on guys, I know I'm not the only one with this problem...

where are you located b0mbrman? 🙂 if you are close enough, the speakers might be worth a drive..

i have 2 sets of speakers hooked up now. a cheap 4.1 and a yamaha ms50. with an acoustic edge (formerly sblive value)

the yamaha's are my primary speakers. the cheapo 4.1 get turned on for when i want to listen to something, say a CD, or DVD, or sometimes games. the cheapo 4.1 has a true independent .1 input.

i have a y splitter in there =) it degrades the sound somewhat, but it's fine for me.

i used to use a really old set of speakers as my rear speakers before i got the el cheapo 4.1

--

oh, that means 4 front speakers, 2 L and 2 R, and 2 rear speakers.

oh, this also means i have 2 subw0ofers. one is to my left, one is to my right. the recommended placement of 2 subs in front and behind you. but it does not matter.

oh, if you must have your music, i do recommend 2 sets of excellent 2.1 systems as opposed to 1 4.1 system. why? because of the extra subw0ofer. now i am saying 2 excellent 2.1 systems, not cheap ones. though your rear speakers can be less expensive than your front ones.

Tom3: I'm in Berkeley, CA...and I see you're in NY 🙁

Someone else: I was under the impression that another sub doesn't really add anything because the problem that doesn't get fixed is bass clarity at high amounts of bass and you can only get that from a better quality sub and not more subs...Honestly though, I'll take anyone's word for it because I haven't much experience with high quality speakers save the weekly half hour I spend at CompUSA in a ball on the floor listening to the Klipsch's

hey man , at my house we are selling one of our computers since we never use it (a p3-933 our fastest machine). too bad we have 3 sets of fps2000s and my ps330 coming tommorrow. I gotta figure out what to do with 2 sets of fps2000s (my old ones and the ones that went with the 933). Like all our relatives have fps2000s also, we got them all for $10 at my dads work from a misshipment. I should hook them all up and just annoy my neighbors.

I don't know if the PS330's are good...:<

Does anyone know if they're worth keeping or would I gain more in terms of money towards the Klipsch's + Karma by selling to one of those sad anandtechers who got their order cancelled?

Bah. To anyone who asks about speakers, I'm in California...You can't tell from the Insight.com picture but those things are huge.

Checking the USPS website, it's $31.10 for priority w/delivery confirmation to the East Coast which makes it almost not worth it.

Maybe you could stack them next your stockpile of unused CDR's I assume you have

Ha ha! How did you know? Then again, of the 350 cd's I bought over the summer, I've used 150 so I don't think the unused stack will be there for long 😉
