I didn't make a statement regarding what I think of the subject (I lean towards Perknose on this, 100%).

I simply said that the prompt disallowed critical analysis; or pigeon-holed it towards one angle. As a student, one should be unfettered in how they approach critical analysis of assignments. (Unless it's a specific assignment to practice certain types of critical analysis: eg: criticize this piece from the perspective of new femenism, or marxism, or New Historicism, etc)


all of that being said, the biggest idiots in this thread are those that see this as somehow racist or politically motivated. Lulz, what a bunch of clowns.

My suggested response was simply to troll the professor, for limiting his critical analysis towards one specific viewpoint (which does nothing to train a student about criticism)

I think the professor was probably trying to discourage certain bad arguments in the potentially charged assignment. Remember who the OP is here. We are surely getting a one-sided view, and this whole thread is probably just a troll.
