Information in Cyberspace web based class. It requires Realplayer. Is there any way to use this program safely?

Tell them that it's against your religion to install sh!t on your computer. Then explain that if they would either loan you one or buy you one you'll do it.

another vote for dropping the class! it cant be that informative if they are using realplayer anyways. your teacher is an asshat, and your school likes special ed computer classes.

The teacher knows about Realplayer being spyware... but I think its a department thing. She said that RealOne is worse than 8. I'll just install it every time I have to view a video then delete it.

I think seppuku is the only honorable option here.

Well, dropping the class may be more practical. It's up to you.

If you install Windows Media player classic and the "hack" for support for realmedia, no problem.

Doesn't support streaming video.

But I just realized an easy solution... I can use the computers in the Information School labs! I don't have to instal Real at all.

Or you can just download an old version of realplayer, before they started bundling spyware with it (at least, I think so). What if you use a mac? There is no realplayer for apple computers.

I have not touched RP for years because of all the ads it installs but to my surprise, I installed it a few days ago because my mom wanted me to listen to something from NPR and I don't have popups all the time like I used to. I don't have any popup killer either so I say it is safer than it used to be.
