You could always borrow Skiguy411's black widow and let her roam around in your ear to find out what's wrong. If she finds a problem she'll bite the location so it'll be easier for your doctor to find.

The stuff you get at Osco, Rite-aid, walgreens, whatever that softens wax is basically a stool softener, but don't get all upset about it especially since it works. Whats better, pride or ability to hear?

The stuff they put in your ear at the doctors office (at least the three places I have had do it) IS actually diluted stool softener, at least the stuff in the store is made for ear wax...

no, it's not that easy, especially if you wear in-ear headphones or earplugs. it pushes the stuff further in, and a q-tip can't get to it.

So your saying that stool softener is actually hydrogen peroxide? I don't know what stool softener is, never had to use it, but I do know that all of these ear cleaning solutions are comprised of mostly hydrogen peroxide and water. I think their completely different things, and that your smoking the crack pipe again - but I could be wrong.

Debrox is an OTC product that dissolves was and cleans out your ears. If you are cheap, hydrogen peroxide and an eyedropper pretty much accomplish the same thing.

i don't care, i am going to buy some stool softening suppositorys and stick one in my ear, i am going for the NUCLEAR OPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lay on your side and pour peroxide in your ear. It will fizz like crazy for like a minute or two. Let it soak in and break everything up. If it's really bad get some qtips and wipe it down. After a few mins drain it and wash it out with water. Flip over and repeat with the other ear. When you work outdoors in construction or dusty areas no matter how much to clean your ears when you shower all that crap will build up and you need to do this.

I recently went to the ear doc and he used a vacuum type thing to suck it out. Many years ago I had a doctor pull it out with a metal hook and that hurt! My current doc said that you shouldn't use q-tips as that only packs some of the ear wax in much further.

squirt it out with warm water. sometimes the chunks are too large or hard so you could buy some of that ear wax softener stuff from the store to drop in your ear. leave in maybe 2-3 minutes and then flush it all out. it feels wierd at first but it's fine. in fact I want to do it right now as I'm feeling not so fresh.

Well, I have NO idea what stool softener is made of, I am just repeating what the doctor told me. Plus the stuff they used did smell like hydrogen peroxide which is the same as the stuff I bought for my own ear at the store.

Either way the do it yourself stuff work VERY well and is not that hard to use. Plus it's really cheap. One thing to keep in mind, if you have unusually hard wax or alot built up (like it sounds like) you will have to do multiple applications. I occasionally had the issues where it would get worse after the first application as some of the fluid got stuck in my ear behind the wax. After a few applications it was all cleared out though.

this isn't really working

i got the ear stuff from osco, i have done it 3 times since i got home from work

now my ear is totally blocked up
nothing is coming out when i flush it

it sorta bubbled when i put the stuff in and sorta bubbled when i rinsed it with H2O2 , but my ear is blocked up

i'll try one more day, then bite the bullet and go to a doctor
thanks for all the tips, i haven't tried the shop vac or suppository yet
