I have the upgrade bug, but is it worth it?

I have had the same rig since the Athlon 64 was first released. I won this setup at their launch party. I have a SK8N mobo, fx-51, and 1 gig of hyperx registered. Along with a 6800 Ultra it is pretty fast. I have a serious case of upgrade-itis though. Is it even worthwhile to do an upgrade right now since the performance gains would be marginal at best? What do you guys think?

I never wait...no point in it. Just get the best you can get now. When better comes along sell and get new. I use to waite, but at times the "short" wait would turn into products never being released on time and that sort of crap. Just get the bast you can now and enjoy it while you can. :)

Why? At least wait a few months for the R520, etc. to be released so you notice a significant improvement after upgrading.

You already have some of the best hardware there is right now--no need to upgrade.

EDIT: Hell, you'll be getting dual core procs before anyone else with S940 anyway.

I honestly don't think you have a need to upgrade.

But if you do, do you plan to sell your current system at a reasonable price? :)

Thanks guys! Your comments have helped me beat the upgrade urge, at least for the moment. The amazing thing to me is that after 18 months, my system is still close to the top performance wise. I might have to do the dual core processor upgrade in the future though.....:)

I'd wait for dual core toledo or something... man you're smoking the crap out of my system (athlon xp 2100... 512mb 2100...fx5200u) and im fighting the upgrade urge... waiting for venice cores to come out. You need the Upgrade-O-Patch or something to put on your arm to fight the cravings ;)

EDIT: btw I can play pretty much every game that's out on mid-settings on a decent resolution already... so I KNOW you're not getting choppy anywhere...
