Happy mothers day fellow mommys, I am going to see my mother tomorrow, and my step dad is making us both dinner. :D My kids made me special cards in school all by themselves, they are so beautiful, so all in all, I hope to have a nice day.

HotChic, I had a makeover too, so you can easily tell baffled and I apart now. ;)

No no no no! Whether or not you're using that avatar at the moment, it still rings a bell in my head as being you! :p Anyway, I'm less interested in baff's virtual hair than I am in her real hair - when do we get pictures of your pretty red head, baff?

Baffled2, I guess this means that you are either female or else an anthropomorphic alien.

Even though I don't agree with the commercialization, I wish you and all mothers a day of happiness and good cheer.

OMG, my son gave me a card today, handwritten, telling me how much he loved me, and that he always will. Inside of it was something called a garden pass. He has, for the last 4 weeks, been making me a garden out in the woods in back of my house. He planted it, made mulch, and watered it every day. My daughter made me a card, with hearts and flowers all over it, and my five year old drew a portrait of me. I never realized I was a round blob with eyes. :p I have the greatest kids in the world. :D

#1 reason so many people hate the US...

We show our love to one another by spending money.

You people say that she raised her kids well because they bought her "good" mother's day gifts? This just shows how screwed up the US really is when it comes to love.

Who said that gift giving was the only measure of love? I didn't hear anybody say that. People here who know me better know that I speak of my children often and with great affection and quite frankly wouldn't have cared if they'd given me material things or not.

You definately did a great job raising em

Sounds like their mom did a great job raising them.

Yep, great kids...

I was not referring to you individually, but everyone who responded in this way.

And I am not saying this is the fault of anyone individually, because it is the society as a whole that does it. I am just saying that it is sad.

It might seem lame to you but I really enjoy these happy threads as do the other people contributing their 2 cents worth, this was about individual people and their real lives, not
commentary on American social/family values in general ,please don't spoil an otherwise happy thread, thanks :)

No. It's that her kids love their mom so much that they'd go the extra mile to make her happy(The theme here is "love", not money). It's not that you see something the rest of the U.S. doesn't, but it's the other way around.
