pdiddly,

if you go to www.idealwiz.com look for the "MitchellTheCSR" logo (yellow head) in the lower center part of the page. Click on it and it will take you to the ads.

While the 30 GB WD (5400 RPM) drive may seem like a good deal, why not just pick up the 30.7 WD 7,200 RPM ATA-100 drive at CompUSA for $119.99 - which is the everyday price? SKU - 278084.

Also, this drive is $129.99 @ BestBuy this week, but they give you $15 off instantly towards the purchase of any DVD movie. Have them price match CompUSA and get a free movie - all for $119.99 + tax.

Edit: BestBuy blows! What I have described above will not work. BB will drop the price down to $119.99, but then the $15.00 off of a DVD gets negated - and the cashiers (being clueless and all...) can't figure out how to handle the transaction. So, the best bet is to pick the 30 GB, ATA-100, 7,200 RPM drive up at CompUSA for $119.99 - no price matching required.

Rivo,

A little OT, but do you know whether the Compusa deals last for 2 weeks now that the ads come out less often? I was thinking of trying to get ahold of the Teac CDRW that was listed in the ad from the 18th.

I tried to ask Compusa but they were, uh a bit clueless. ;)

thanks,

Hi Frazzeled.

I am looking at the CompUSA ad from 2/18 and it specifically says it is valid from Sunday Feb 18 thru Sat Feb 24th.

Frazzled:

If you had your Profile enabled with an email address listed, or PM enabled, then maybe somebody with an extra one of those TEAC drives could contact you ...

From what I can see (I can't read the scans well) there are 2 sets of CD-R's free after rebate - in case there's anyone anywhere who hasn't gotten enough free ones - 10pk Dysan ($4.99) and 10 pk what looks like Sony ($3.99).

Software free after rebates - ejay MP3,Check It, Explorer, Photosuite 4, Educational Pack.

Scans are posted here.

Yikes, you're right, Midnight Rambler. I had to fix my profile at some point and forgot to enable those options.

Thanks for the heads-up!

I read the cable modem as $219.99 less $30 instant savings less $20 Mfr MIR for $169.99 final price. They just opened up cable access for me this week so I am looking at this too. Might be better for me to pay $7/month rental. Who knows what technology will be available by the time I pay off $170 in rental fees? Guess I better decide by ad time.
