How do you ship a laptop exactly? Do you have to buy the packing supplies from the post office?

will be at least 20 I believe, and you might want to insure the laptop? Just in case

woulda been easier if you kept the boxes, but yeah the PO sells everything you need, or you can buy it cheap at like staples or something, but its not worth the hassle imo

Nice :) (comp/gf :p)

You can calculate shipping on the shipper company's website, IIRC

I once bought a gf (now-ex) a car, and posted about it on here, and everyone told me how much the car I chose sucked. This thread reminded me of that.

How do you package it?

So that parade of monster trucks towing tanks that have guys playing with flamethrowers wouldn't so much as scratch the laptop if were laying in the middle of the street. Plus insurance, because you never know when one of the flamethrower guys could cheat and open it.

Get a box that is at least a few inches bigger than the laptop on all sides. Wrap the laptop in bubble wrap and be sure to tape the bubblewrap so the lappy can't slide or wiggle its way out. Make sure it fits snuggly in that box, but does not make the box rip or bulge. Then put that box in another box and fill any dead space with newspaper or packing peanuts. Again, make sure it doesn't bulge or tear. Make sure the outside box is brown and non-descript.

Ship it insured.

Ship it insured.

Ship it insured.

Ship via Fedex or UPS since it will be cheaper than the Post office. Heavier items usually are more expensive at USPS than it is at Fedex/UPS.

However, I recommend FedEx over UPS also.

Find a box big enough to hold your items. Get lots of bubble wrap/peanuts. Throw it all in the box, and ship lol.

Expect to pay anywhere from $15-30. Get insurance that covers up to how much it's worth.

You can probably get away with making your own makeshift box, but if you go to a Fedex store they have laptop-specific boxes with lots of padding; same kind that companies use to have you send a laptop in for service. I'd say the box runs about $20 or so, but depending how much the laptop is worth that's a small price IMO ;)
