i def have some similarities to you. work time is work time, relax time is relax, everything should be as efficient and cost effective as possible.

however

when im doing things i REALLY enjoy... time disappears. it sounds like you dont have that.

in your example, just because you were not in a time crunch, you were still on a mission. you have somewhere to be, thats the objective. you just need to figure out how to be flexible. instead of slowing down that objective, just come up with an interim one.

I'm similar but not that "bad" thanks for making me feel better.

I'm the worst when I have something scheduled to attend. I've gotten better at relaxing before work but if it's anything else I'm hypersensitive about the time and being early.

Discover the joys of gunfire. Seriously, find a local gun range that rents handguns and try it out. It's pretty fun, and oddly satisfying.

Find a sugar baby rather than putting all the pressure on your wife to put out more sex. Explain it to her in this way if she get upset.

Hmmm...guns sound interesting. Maybe I'll just get some chloroform if she keeps saying no

What's you caffeine intake per day?

Pretty low. I don't drink coffee and I rarely drink soda/engery drinks etc

But then I'll be in a hurry to get to the interim one!

Is that even possible? I've tried but I must be missing some sort of piece. I can go into it saying 'I don't need to win' or 'I am just here to have fun' but apparently in my mind winning = fun and not winning = anger

It is certainly possible. I would get very angry when I wasn't winning. The key for me was seeing the enjoyment of the people I am with and relishing in that instead of the feeling of winning. It's much better overall.

But do you get worked up about it? I get annoyed and angry when driving or walking in crowds. It can't be good for me. I also look at my wife who often seems more relaxed and doesn't get as worked up about inefficiencies. It seems like it might be a nicer way to live - to some extent

Hell yeah. Sometimes I wish I had a rocket mounted on my car for stupid drivers. People who clog the passing lane going the same speed as the car next to them make me rage.

I also cannot stand going to stores or malls because all the human traffic. I start to get angry flop sweat. I simply don't understand how some people can be so slow at things. Maybe I do have a problem!

Our adult personalities are the result of our childhood. Find a therapist and really explore your past.

Ha...I didn't read all the replies and skimmed your post...you want to break up your routine?

Have a couple of kids...they will F your world up...eventually you won't give a shit about anything...being on time...coordinating colors...cleaning the kitchen...doing laundry on time...showering...

The only thing you will want is a nap....

I kid, kind of...

Having kids is the best part of life in my eyes...it took me a while to realize it but it truly a gift.

OP, it's probably just the way you're wired. There's probably medications to help with it but if it's not a medical issue, why bother with meds. Might want to talk to you doctor about it just to be sure.

I do have several smaller hobbies (reading, computer games, home improvements)
Let me log into Battlelog and see how small a hobby it is ;)

Any ideas/suggestions?

First, realize that as part of your personality, perhaps you just have a built in sense of urgency. Instead of trying to suppress it, make good use of it.

Second, when you know you need to take a break from the fast pace, do something that doesn't involve you moving. Make an appointment for a 1 hour massage. You're stuck laying there, so lay there and enjoy it.

Once every week or two, I take a meandering walk for a couple of hours in the city with no specific destination in mind. It really tempers a goal-oriented mindset and lets you relax and soak in the details. Second, I work out in the mornings three times a week. It's hard to rush places all of the time when your body is sort of worn out from a hard run or weight lifting session - you're by default more relaxed. Works wonders.

I really like this idea

Nobody here likes jokes!

Lots of jerks in this thread. I shouldn't be surprised that a thread about this topic would be so popular in a forum populated disproportionately by high-strung type-A engineering types. I went to school with a bunch, and they're some of the most annoying people ever.

As far as driving goes, I just lock in on the speed limit and almost never pass. Do not worry about how long it will take to get somewhere. Leave early enough that you don't have to worry and then do something to make the drive enjoyable. I like to listen to audiobooks and podcasts while driving. Sometimes if I'm on a particularly good part of a book, I'll even make an extra lap around the block before pulling into the driveway so I can finish it undisturbed.

In a way, your drives and walks can become a significant relaxation period if you can find a way to distract yourself from what you are doing by listening to something that interests you. It's kind of a cool feeling to be arriving at your destination and be thinking "Damn, I'm here already. Wish I had driven a bit more slowly...".
