I have now joined the PS4 ranks

I'm pretty excited -- I ordered one of the PS4 bundles from Walmart on their "Green Monday" sale. I can choose one of four games:

Destiny
Far Cry 4
NBA 2K15
Little Big Planet 3

I love sports games and am leaning towards NBA 2K15. Any other opinions? Also, how is Madden 15 on the PS4? I noticed NHL 15 is getting routinely awful ratings everywhere, so I may stick to play NHL 11 on my 360 until NHL 16 is released.

Any other game recommendations? I'm excited for Uncharted 4 and the PS4 God of War game, whenever it makes it out.

On the down side, I went to play my PS3 last night and it wouldn't power up. From reports online, it looks like power supplies dying in the slim were pretty common (I believe I have one of the early slim models), so I went ahead and ordered a replacement. I just have way too many consoles now.

Madden is very, very good and has a lot of potential, but be warned, if you are a football enthusiast/fan who knows the game pretty well (as your screen name suggests), then it needs A LOT of tuning and tweaking before it really feels right. And even then, it's not as true to the sport as something like The Show, NBA2K, or even NHL.

The good news is, places like the Operation Sports forums have exhaustive lists of sliders, tweaks, rosters, etc and active discussions about them that will help, but be prepared to try several out and play SEVERAL exhibition games before really feeling satisfied.

Yeah, that isn't a problem -- I've played Madden since Madden 97 and know all about the deficiencies when it comes to their engine. In fact, since 97, the only Maddens I haven't bought were 2000, 2001, and 2011 (yes, I'm a sucker for football). I was just concerned because I remember how god awful Madden was the first two or three years on the 360; it wasn't until Madden 09 that the game was really good IMO. I went ahead and ordered it since Amazon had the PS4 version for $43 today -- not sure if that is the new regular price or not, but it sounded like a decent price.

I probably should stick to Madden 15 and NBA 2K15 for now. The Show definitely intrigues me (I have The Show 10 for PS3) so maybe I can catch a sale on it.

Also, I guess I should ask while I'm here -- would anyone be interested in forming online sports leagues? I ran the official AT Madden league a couple of years and ran the AT NCAA football league one year, so I'm up for that if we can find some committed players. Madden, NBA, The Show, NHL -- I'll buy any if we can get a committed group of players.

EDIT: The Show 14 is only $30 on Amazon, but IIRC, The Show is usually released in late March so maybe I should wait a little longer.

I know it's very much en vogue to bash Madden, especially by folks who don't ever play it, and I'm not excusing EA's lazy approach over the years to fixing issues and improving the off the field stuff, but the latest Madden on PS4/Xbone is easily the best since the 2K series. It's got issues, like I said, but if you're willing to tweak some stuff and download some new sliders/rosters, it will provide a lot of fun. There's still stuff that's inexcusably broken (There are next to NO penalties, sacks are WAY too frequent, and human running game is WAY overpowered without serious tweaking), but it still provides a lot of fun, and is gorgeous to boot.

The Show is easily one of the best sports games on the market. Period. I'm not even THAT big of a baseball fan, but it's simply on another level when it comes to just being balanced and getting the flow/feel of the game right, ALMOST right out of the box.

To be honest, The Show was the reason I got a PS4. No joke. One game. Bad idea? Well, I sank probably 250-300+ hours into The Show 14 for PS4...5 FULL seasons in Franchise mode (usually playing 25-30 games a season, plus every post season game), plus all of the exhibition games, adds up to A LOT of games. Just simply addicting and wonderfully rewarding. Beware some of the broken CPU trade logic though!

Seeing as how we're coming up on the dead of winter, unless you're really in a baseball mindset, I'd say you could wait til March/April when '15 drops.
But you can get '14 for around $20 used, and if you don't feel like waiting the 3-4 months for the next game, you could NOT go wrong with '14.

Try out Infamous. It has been one of my favorite next gen games so far.

This, but specifically see if you can find the combo I saw recently. It was Infamous + controller + 2 dock controller charger for a decent price. I saw it at best buy but I don't think it's an exclusive to there. I already bought the controller charger earlier and it's nice to have (plugging them into the console is annoying IMO) and I would like to have another controller. Plus the game is one of the better PS4 games I've played.

Infamous is cool but I didn't even finish it yet and I think I got bored because I was buying too many games. You got the system at the right time. I think mgs is gonna be out soon.

In the same ranks, although I got the black Friday bundle so gta5 ( no psn account yet so haven't tried last of us), I assume you've already played it but if not I'm having fun with it. Also have mordor and infamous, modor has been fun but I've switched back to GTA for the time being.

Infamous is cheap now and it was pretty fun. It lacked the depth of an open world game like GTA V for sure, but it was still fun, and very pretty.

The last of us obviously, maybe even if you've played it already.

My PS4 arrived today. I am surprised how small the console is. The only issue I have found is that there is a white/gray scratch (2") on the matte finish on the top of the console.

I'm trying... desperately... to hold out until spring when the new The Show hits. I can't justify buying a PS4 right now for ONE game. I also can_not_believe there are no baseball games for the Xbox 360/One. That's unbelievable to me... sad.

Does it look like paint? Where did you order from? I was thinking if it's some scuff it may rub off.

No, you know when you have a plastic textured surface and you rub it up against something colored and the plastic texture has a scratch that color? It is a scratch like that and as you say, it probably a scuff mark. I couldn't buff it out by hand but I bet if I put a buff pad on my Dremel, I could buff it out.

I ordered it from Walmart. The box was pristine, sealed, and everything inside was pristine as well.

I also feel like an idiot -- my PS3 power supply wasn't dead. I had it plugged into a UPS (it was the only device plugged into the battery side of the UPS) and the UPS croaked. Doh! I'll keep the spare supply or ebay it. 😀
