I heard it was about $100 an hour ($70 for a plane and $30 for an instructor), and you need about 60 hours for a private license, right?

Around $75/hr. Each lesson is one hour. You can take a lesson whenever you please, I did mine once a week, of course sooner the better. You pay PER LESSON. It's not THAT far out of reach.

Dood you're 15, not 50. Your window to learn new things closes as you get older. Learn as much as you can now while you still have time

Youth is a time for construction....

Martial arts is a good choice. Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Tung su do... whatever you prefer. It not only trains your body, but also trains your mind and discipline and self-control.

It's good to see a young guy being sensible and looking at his own life and deciding to change it for the better.

You have to be 16 to get a student pilot certificate, which will allow you to solo. You can be younger when you start taking lessons though. If you have any questions feel free to PM me, I just went through all this in the last few months. It is one of the best things I have ever done!

I started at 14, and it was 1997 or 98. I didn't find it hard really, just don't go in thinking it'll be hard or it will be. Go take an into lesson...about $35, you get to take the controls and see if it's your thing, in no way is it a contract.

It's pretty damn hard to crash an airplane unless you're TRYING to, IMO. Theres two sets of controls, you're with a certified flight instructor who has on top of a commercial pilot's license the knowledge and experience to teach newbies. You'll be fine, and remember that it's not hard unless you make it hard. Send me an IM or PM, and I'll dig up a list of every school in your area.

Sorry, there was a memo sent out stating that life now officially ends at 15. Time to buy a bullet and rent a gun.

Before you go do them, walk back inside. Sit back down at your computer, and do a POLL asking us which one is the best. Then hit IRC and ask them...

Books are fun to read and they hep make for a good imagination. You probably have a lot to read for school, but reading stuff you want to is different i always thought.

Are you good at science/do you enjoy it?

If so, check out if your school has a Science Olympiad team - it may be too late to join for this year depending on how competitive your school is, but certainly keep it in mind for next year.

I made the team as a sophomore (the only sophomore) and it consumes a ton of time because we're a very competitive team (top 10 at nationals for 3 years) and it's also a ton of fun and I have learned a tremendous amount about science, teamwork, and life in general.

:)

Other than that, if you're interested in world affairs and debating, check out Model United Nations. Or, just check it out if you have some friends in it and want to go have fun away from home a few times and maybe get some action. ;) Haha. It's pretty fun though.

Something I would like to do, though doubt I will be able to find time for it for another 4.5 years (gotta finish high school...then I have college :p), is some form of martial arts - it's certainly not too late to start it.

Anyway, those are just some things that I enjoy. :)

I did Scouts for 5 years and had a blast. You get to meet some great people, learn some useful skills, and have an awesome time on outings. If you're at all into outdoorsy stuff, you might want to look into it!

Trust me, when you get to the age where you have to work and do daily things to keep up with LIFE in general you're going to wish you were still a 15 year old kid with nothing to do. Enjoy doing nothing, NOW. Don't plague yourself with depressing thoughts of you not doing anything.

Go watch a movie, or if you are really bored, get a job. Do the yard, etc. You're 15 for crying out loud!

You have no idea how true this is.

From the thread I thought you were over 30 or something.
HEY! :disgust: :p

I thought he/she was like a 65 year-old grandma who had raised four kids of her own, they all moved out of the house and far away, and she couldn't stand the silence of it all, or something along those lines.

Over 30????
