... so I guess OT is the winner.

I have a pile of old cr@ppy 15" monitors at work that I need to get rid of. "Sadly" I need to this in an environmentally sound manner and I have no idea where to even start looking for that.

Any input?

/me awaits the "Dump in a river", "throw them out your car while on express way", etc etc responses.

I'm in Waukesha and I put monitors and computers on the curb all the time. They are usually gone in less than 24 hours (nerds?)

Well Waukesa /= DT Milwaukee. I think I may have some issues rolling them out onto the corner of 1st and Wisconsin.

Take em home and build a wall of monitors out of them. A 4x6 grid will give you a HDTV monster (and a heater for your entire house).

If they work, just donate them to a school or church or something. Always someone looking for a monitor.

Bring it to a local school and donate it.

If it works they will gladly accept it.

Call your municipal/county sanitation department.

Don't donate non-working or very obsolete hardware to charities. It will cost the charities money to dispose of them. Take broken or undesirable hardware to your municipal hazardous waste disposal. Don't leave it on the curb if it's broken. Anyone picking it up may end up dumping it illegally (More likely to happen if a person got it 'free.')

Most sanitation companies have electronics recycling programs. Call whoever picks up your garbage, they can help.

1. Pile em up in the back of a U-haul
2. Drive the U-haul to the hood.
3. Leave the back of the U-haul unlock.
4. Walk to the nearest liquor store or coffee shop and do some shopping.

When you return, all your monitors will have magically disappeared.

Edit: don't forget to buy insurance for the items in the back of the U-haul. You'd be rewarded if you do.
