I'm working on my AS degree right now, and want to rejoin the Army as an officer through ROTC which obviously requires a 4 year degree.

But I have no clue what major I want. Right now i'm leaning towards Computer Science, but if I'm no good at it then I'll be hosed.

I wonder if NIU has a general education degree.

if you want you can pick any major and never use it because the army said theyd keep you busy but end up working as an electrician assistant because they *didnt*

thats what my brother in law did :-/

I started with computer science, but changed my major to business. It's pretty much a general degree that allows you to do anything.

No, I won't be living on campus. The problem with any of the business degrees is that I'll have 3 years of study after transfer instead of a very busy 2 years as a CS major.

Business. When in doubt, it'll always keep you marketable.

Do you care about the degree at all or do you just want the ROTC?

Does the school have an equivalent of my degree? International Studies - specialization Security and Intelligence
any kind of S&I major/focus? When this became an official degree track, they referred to it as the Homeland Security program, and I had been told a few schools were getting similar specialization tracks.
It's interesting stuff and has some uses, if of course you want to get into the government after the military. If I don't, or even if I do end up staying in the Army for a career after ROTC, I'm keeping the government or other civilian security-related positions in mind.

I got my degree in Business Admin, because I was in the same boat.

Edit- I'm also finishing a second degree in MIS as well.

ROTC, if that fell through I'd go with federal agency or law enforcement.

Some history classes can be hard. I've heard education classes are the easiest.
