I have no idea how to simplify this equation

Ive been staring at this for a while and have no freakin idea how to simplify this to what they get in the second line. (disregard the stuff at the very top)

Can anyone much smarter than me list out the steps for me please? Thanks bros.

Move the right blob thing to the right, both sides are now positive.

Kill the denominator 2's on both sides.

The two "sqrt(2)"' on the right cancel each other out.

Rest is obvious.

Out of curiosity, what's your major, or is this a high school problem?

Yeah I got that, getting rid of the T2 is what's confusing me though for some reason (the T2 in 392-T2). 😳

Nooo. You do not get rid of T2 in 392-T2.. sqrt(2) and 2 get cancelled and all you are left with is.. (sqrt(3)*T2)-(392-T2)=0

=> (sqrt(3)*T2) - 392 + T2 = 0

=> sqrt(3)*T2 + T2 -392 = 0

Since T2 is common in the first 2 terms.. take T2 outside..

=> (sqrt(3)+1)*T2 = 392

=> T2 = 392/(sqrt(3)+1)
