You know I don't think this is the list of succession. A Google search turns up this:

The Vice President Richard Cheney
Speaker of the House John Dennis Hastert
President pro tempore of the Senate1 Ted Stevens
Secretary of State Colin Powell
Secretary of the Treasury John Snow
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld
Attorney General John Ashcroft
Secretary of the Interior Gale A. Norton
Secretary of Agriculture Ann M. Veneman
Secretary of Commerce Donald Evans
Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao
Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy G. Thompson
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Melquiades Rafael Martinez
Secretary of Transportation Norman Yoshio Mineta
Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham
Secretary of Education Roderick Paige
Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony J. Principi
Secretary of Homeland Security2 Tom Ridge

President Pro-tempore on that list? He comes about 5th in line after prez and vice prez. It WAS Strom Thurmond until he died...how scary would that have been!?!?

it's the order of presidential succession should the prez and vice prez get whacked.

We should be so lucky to have Colin Powell our president. I voted for Bush because he was the lesser of two evils(Gore claims to have invented the internet, enough said). But Colin Powell is the man, he would make a good president.

Only six men have to be killed until a woman is president.

Wasn't Madeline Albright 3rd in line after Clinton and Gore?

She could not have been president, I think she was born a Czech, not an American, and she would not have been 3rd in line anyhow.
