This is awful.

Anyone got any home remedies that might help?

They are all over me and itch like crazy.

I'm taking Singulair, Prednisone, and benadryl.

hmm, one of the side effects of singulair:

http://www.drugs.com/sfx/singulair-side-effects.html
Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Singulair:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); aggressive behavior; agitation; dark urine; fever; flu-like symptoms; hallucinations;

Well I've had this before and the Singulair helped, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say its not caused by that, especially due to the fact that I had the hives before I started taking it.

You could try an Aveeno oatmeal bath. Or you can google on how to make your own oatmeal bath. Perhaps that could help?

3 different drugs -

a leukotriene inhibitor, cortisone, and an antihistamine. If those 3 don't fix it - you really ought to see a doctor.

See a Doctor. The only time I had Hives was when I took Zyban while trying to quit Smoking. Doctor gave me something(Cortisone I think) that cleared things up pretty quickly.

an allergy should never cause death if it is the first time ever ingesting something that caused an allergic reaction.

What was the medication, if you don't mind me asking. Something she could have taken as a child that hadn't presented an obvious reaction the first time? Or any other time she had taken it, or something that is extremely similar in make-up?

Then again, medicinal allergies I don't know how different they are compared to protein-based allergies (insect bites/stings and foods).

As for the OP...
Did you recently ingest a food item or ingredient you have never had before? Or otherwise been exposed to something brand new in your life that you have never been exposed to before?
If you began taking all those medications to try and cure the hives, its definitely not them.

I say this... because hives tend to be the first reaction the body shows when it determines it wants to be allergic to something new. Food allergies get exponentially worse from there with each new exposure, and sometimes the second time is enough to cause a potential medical emergency if the first reaction was readily apparent.

I had hives on my arms a few days into taking my first prescription of Zithromax. I now state I am allergic to that whenever asked. If hives would be all I'd get, I'd deal with it, but never know what the next reaction will be like, not a chance I'm going to take. Which sucks, because Zithromax is like 5 or so doses over 5 days (antibiotic), whereas the typical prescription, amoxicillin, is like 30 doses over 10 days. Annoying as all hell, especially when an infection clears up 3 or 4 days into the dosing and yet still have to remember to take 15-20 more pills, or do like I did last time and the period bumped to about 13 days because I'd forget one of the 3 doses in a day.

it was a sulfa based medication for her acne outbreaks, allergies to it are common. She had taken it several times before with no effects, this time severe hives, which resulted in severe dehydration overnight, which resulted in her collapsing unconcious in her dorm when she woke the next morning. Luckily her door was open and someone saw her and called an ambulance, or she would have laid there and died.

Ooo yeah sulfa is a bitch for a lot of people I've heard, and having silent allergic reactions is trouble. Glad she's okay. :)

Although, if one isn't tuned into ones own body, it's easy to miss very real reactions, and when spotted often are brushed aside as unrelated, or related to something else entirely.
Common? If not hives, maybe a slight reduction in lung function, but if during pollen season might be mislinked to that. Swelling or inflammation of anywhere on the body. Ankles and feet are common, and easily missed... or maybe brushed aside as maybe being increased water retention as of late, or who knows..

I might be perfectly fine in taking Zithromax. Those hives on my arms (only really remember them on my arms) could have be related to something else. Maybe reaction to new detergent, non-thoroughly rinsed clothes, the dryer sheets, etc etc.
But like you stated, when you can have silent allergic reactions and all of a sudden a life-threatening reaction (peanuts can be like this)... having hives at the same time as taking a medication leads me, even if incorrectly, to link to the meds just to play on the safe side.
