I HAVE FOUND X-FI CHIPS

If you take a look at the ads they run in Maximum PC and other magazines, it states the date as 8.21, which sounds about right since their press release the other day said these would be available at Best Buy and other stores later this month.

*will not be able to tell the difference between it and his karojen so will save his $$*

I'll buy one when they are available. The audigy cards sound decent but I know for a fact that with a better card my speakers can sound much much better. I used to have some recording gear that wooped the audigy. So I'm betting with good speakers most people are going to notice a nice difference. It sounds very promising and I dont think they would put out a totally new chip and card that didn't sound better at all. The problem is I bet a lot of people with crappy speakers or with those klipsch speakers aren't going to notice a difference because of the speakers and then proclaim it a failure. Anyway I'm getting one soon so I'll let everyone know 🙂

Should I be looking at this to replace my Event stuff?

event stuff?

That looks like it's marketed as professional audio gear, I'm pretty sure the creative stuff is not supposed to be professional quality audio gear.

Also, I didn't see "event" mentioned anywhere in that link, it looked like it was echo audio.

Event was the older name - event layla, gina, etc.

Named after women well at least they're not as troublesome as the other brands.

Yes it's pro gear but CL is *always* touting "studio" quality in their products for a decade yet fail to deliver. Pure market sugar. Oldtimers know that ANYTHING that has the word "Pro" on it - isn't.

Bashing aside, it looks promising to improve SQ for the CONSUMER, yes? Finally the PC can be hitched to the likes of Madrigal, Wadia, Krell Digitial, Accuphase and actually reproduce music with feeling? I have no idea. I'd like to try it though so yes I'll bite and buy their flagship card and throw it in a shuttle and take it for a spin. After all experience is the best teacher - albeit the most expensive and it beats getting your nads crimped by the police K9 patrols.

SandBlaster does it again. Craptacular. Well.... it might be good for average joe.... until the support for it disappears.

A sound card on PCIe?.....that sounded kinda funnny..

Well hey, it'll come. They mentioned at some point they would support it.

Heck, even Matrox has a Pci-e1 video card.
