I have decided that Microsoft should add a 'disable popups' option to IE.

I tried Firebird for a while and didn't like it... I got errors when visiting certain pages, and that's unacceptable to me. I never get errors in IE, it's fast, doesn't have an annoying flashy interface. A popup blocker is the only thing it DOESN'T have (yet) that I wish it did.

The ironic thing is that Gecko's css rendering is what the W3C uses to verify that a web page was coded correctly, and IE css implementation is severely flawed (especially css2).

I have the google toolbar and it's great. It's easy to install and I haven't had a pop-up since.

Yes, I have decided that. Why? Because popups are so annoying that people run 3rd party programs that have the sole purpose of disabling them.

I really really hate how Microsoft became the dominate internet browser software supplier and now they're forcing things like infinite popups on the user.

Also, there should be options to disable re-sizing the browser, removing the address bar, disabling right-click, viewing source, sounds, animations (the current options for this don't disable everything)...

Doesn't Microsoft ever consider adding options like these? Like.. don't they ever think about the consumer and not the developer?

ok and now what about flash and audio?

See: Windows registry. These tweaks exist, commercial and educational orgs use them all the time (Typically facilitated through another WinNT administrative snap-in title, but occasionally done right in regedit.) Sounds and animations may not be, though.

everyone should keep in mind (think from your own hacking or programming experience) if you want you ad to get through to a browser what would you do.

It comes down to until they ban unsolicited advertizing through a browser there isn't much you can do to stop it.

It's getting really bad....fortunately the money behind the process is taking programming to new levels.

Boo-fvcking-hoo. You want some cheese with your :wine:? As other people have already said, use a different browser, download Pop-Up Stopper, etc. Microsoft isn't responsible for everything that sucks about the Internet. I'll agree that their security sucks and their business practices are questionable at best, but you've got the option of using something else instead of bitching about it.
