I have bad Migraine headache today, damn change in weather, anyone else?

right now, I am basically blind, I can just see peripherally to type. I feel like h*ll. I snorted some of that sumatriptan stuff, and it tastes so bad. As soon as i can see again, I am leaving work and going to bed.

my father gets them about a couple of times a year, every time around the same time, right during winter. It completely knocks him to his knees. He has to stay in bed completely dark room and not a sound in the house. If you walk in to see how he is doing, his eyes are blood shot and he is sweating even when the AC is turned up to Ice Age.

Damn, that sucks. Unfortunately, there really aren't any great migraine medications out there (especially not over-the-counter ones). If you have recurrent migraines (or any headaches for that matter), it would be good to go see a doctor since it's something that should be checke out just to be safe. Plus, you might be prescribed something that helps. . . .

You guys have no clue. Migraines are not "sineous headaches" they're not
"tension headaches"... you don't take a Advil or two and get relief.
Migraines are debilitating and can be painful enough to send one to the
hospital. Nausea and vomitting often accompany the head pain. If you get
Migraines you know it... it's not a question you have to ask more than once.
Sorry to sound defensive, but i suffer from Migraine frequently, 5 to 6 times
a month can be pretty normal, in fact i'm having one right now. Relief can
only be obtained by Rx med and sleep. But when you have to work it's take the
med and suffer. Beekman's vision disturbance is also a classic migraine indicator.
I guess i'm just trying to say - have sympathy for true migraine sufferers.
I could go on and on, but chances are you really don't care, and i need to
see if i can find my pills....

No, I know they aren't the same I just missed where he said he was partially blind etc., and thought he might be using the term "migraine" when it wasn't.

Hope you have relief soon, beekman.

I also get classic migraines. One came on this weekend when I was cutting back on coffee. Alot of the time its due to dehydration (usually something health related, like dehydrated by alcohol, sunburn, caffeine withdrawal, salty food, etc) and you can actually avert a migraine by chugging a bottle of water or two before the aura turns into pain town. Or at least when it does its much more tolerable.

If you mess that up, and you get the migraine + nausea chances are you've been dehydrated awhile and your blood volume is low so you need water + salt since your body only has a salt receptor you actually won't be thirsty unless you intake some salt. Like a 1/4 teaspoon we're talking tops. About what you would sprinkle on food. Then immediately chug 1-2 bottles of water as you can tolerate.

Try and avoid cheese and dairy as I heard something pretty interesting about the different composition of proteins in dairy like high in methionine that increases blood viscosity (thicker) and so it gives you more ill health effects from dehydration than other people.

http://jn.nutrition.org/content/137/12/2814.full (related, though doesn't really tie in diary, you'd have to research the protein profile of dairy foods but I suspect, bad)

A big part of a migraine trigger is something like high vasoconstriction, blood viscosity, and dehydration combined with higher blood requirements by the brain, like stress, MSG, caffeine withdrawal, visual work, etc. This is when you get the aura. During this time that the aura is happening (due to insufficient blood flow) the blood vessel cells in the brain panic and release Nitric Oxide to force the arteries to open up and then you are in high blood pressure pain town. Cause the last thing your brain wants is a bunch of shitty sludge blood with a whole bunch of toxins that should've been filtered out pounding against it every heartbeat.

Moral of the story TLDR got an aura drank 2 bottles of water with a lick of salt and closed my eyes for 5 minutes and averted what used to be a 6-7 hour ordeal of laying down and throwing up.

OP hasn't posted in 6 weeks. Sadly it looks like he/she may have succumbed to his/her 12 year long headache.

I hate the change of weather too, though I can't say it affects me that much, makes me a bit more groggy maybe. Feel cold in the morning, and somewhat hot in evening. It's a battle between trying to save energy, or running the furnace and the A/C in the same day. So far, saving energy is winning. I always try to see how long I can make it without using the furnace in September. This year I'm doing good. Though it has been decently warm. It was actually like 25C yesterday. It's 8 right now though.

Its so bizarre how in-tuned your body can be with the seasons. Literally randomly at like 7pm I felt this kind of brisk tinge in the air even though its still 81F outside and I was like yep winter is coming. And sure enough the leaves were starting to fall the next day. Me and the trees man, like minds.

Somebody would have complained he didn't search first. "I'm sure there is a thread about the seasons somewhereon this forum in 15 years"

I necro'd this? Are you kidding me? It was on like, page 2. LMAO. Read this shit like it was yesterday.

2001 is a nice necro year though 😀

Oh, and migraines suck. I used to have them as a kid, to the point where it would be black before my eyes, I'd sweat profusely, I'd be in agony and all that would help would be a cold damp cloth across my forehead and trying to sleep in total darkness. Fortunately for me it ended when I reached puberty.

You can often see whether someone has a migraine by looking at their eyes.

No. Spammer necro'd, you replied, spammer post was deleted.

Easy to do. The mundane and the moronic posts to this forum haven't changed in 15+ years.
