So it sounds like I need to get a tongue scraper and some peroxide. Are you talking hydrogen peroxide that is in the brown bottle? Thanks.
Hydrogen peroxide only comes in brown bottles because it will break down if it is exposed to sunlight.

I have bad breath, I'm tired of it.

I eat breakfast in the morning, then I brush, floss, and rinse with Listerine (spelling?)

I usually don't eat lunch.

After dinner, before bed, I brush, floss and rinse again.

Yet throughout the day I have nasty breath. What gives?

You could try many quick fixes, but for a long-term treatment, consider checking your Niacin level. You may be deficient in Niacin (vitamin B-3), which could result in a bad breath. Here are a list of symptoms of Niacin deficiency: Bad breath, canker sores, depression, diarrhea, dementia, dermatitis, emotional instability, fatigue, headaches, insomnia, irritability, memory impairment, muscle weakness, nausea, photosensitivity and red tongue.

Food source: Liver, meat, fish, whole and enriched grains and legumes.

Are you eating enough of these foods? If you aren't, then you should.

This may not be the cause of your bad breath, but be sure to rule it out. Besides, even if Niacin deficiency is not the cause, supplementing it could still help with the bad breath. Be careful about taking it in excess though because it could result in a [temporary] burning sensation, itching or flushing.

this girl at work has the nastiest breath
but she hates mint, cinnamon, gum, and spicy stuff!!
i think she said she brushes her teeth with baking soda?!?!?!
is there anything she can use to get rid of nasty ass breath??

Instead of using mouth wash, try to gargle with salt water. I personally find salt water more effective to kill germs with than mouth wash - Listerine included.

try cleaning your tougnue

NEVER ever use Alcohol based mouthwash!
It kills most of the bacteria but also at the same time creates an environment for them to grow quickly back in (30minutes or so).

Let me repost what I wrote earlier in the other thread:

Any thing that is relatively safe and gives oxygen works.

Most common mouthwash DOESNOT work!
1. It contains alcohol
2. alcohol will kill most of the bacteria, but at the same time dries out your mouth. (no saliva production)
3. the bacteria that wasn't killed will grow back in about 20-30 minutes due to the lack of saliva.

The white stuff on your tongue is actually the visible celluar damage caused by the sulfur gas.
The bacteria in your mouth that cause bad breath (sulfur gas) is located in a protective pocket underneath the taste buds. That's why you need to scape your tongue gently.
Use some kind of oxygen contain mouthwash after you brush your tongue. (Therabreath -contains oxygen does work; check your location drug store - OSCO, save-on, walgreens, etc.)

Repeat for about 1-2 weeks, and no more bad breath!!

--------------------
Section on Toothpaste

Most toothpaste contains Sodium lauryl sulfate, which basically acts to give you the foam so you feel like you are really getting your teeth clean. However, sodium lauryl sulfate dries out your mouth!! The end result is the same as alcohol - bad breath.

Do a google or webmd search on Triclosan, I think Colgate Total is the only toothpaste on the market right now in US that contains it. Tricosan is an anti-bacteria agent. It will help alot with your bad breath.

--------------

More info
You MUST get some kind of anti-bacteria OR oxygen to kill those bacteria!
So either use something with triclosan or oxygen in it.

The reason why some people have really bad breath and other don't are mainly due to genetics. Your genetic determines HOW LONG and how far the pocket is on your tongue. Those people with deep pockets are pretty much screwed unless they follow the advice above. Just brushing is NOT enough!
That's why a treatment method that might work for you won't work for another person.

Where to buy tongue scraper?
You can get them at Wal-mart, target, any drug store. They are near the toothbrushes at my local wal-mart.

From a very old thread.
enjoy.

If it's been chronic, seriously get it checked out. My sister had this problem and turns out she had an infection which could of become very serious if she didn't get it checked out in time.

I rinse with a 50/50 Listerine/Peroxide mix. Works for me, though my breath gets 'stale' after a while if I rinse and then don't eat anything for a long time. It's hard to explain, but a stick of Extra gum + my mouth rinse keeps my breath fresh for a whole day.

Clean/brush tongue.
Eat more fruits&veggies, drink more water.
Don't skip meals, I think that seems to makes bad breath worse.

what do you eat, alot of onions and garlic?? have you always had bad breath? or just recently? if recently try eating more fiber and cleaneseing your self, useally does the job

DOgg

Drinks lots of water, listerine does'nt help because it just dries out your mouth and makes it worse. Get a tongue scraper, the white stuff on your tongue is one of the reasons you have bad breath. Stay away from really sugary foods and drinks.

Bad breath can also some straight from the stomach. To avoid bad breath, its important to have a healthy digestive system.

Try drinking around eight cups of water a day.
