I have ants in a potted palm tree in my room

I think they came in through the window and built a colony in there, and i've seen a few before, but all of the sudden there are hundreds. they can't get out of the pot cause there is a tray of water it is sitting inand they can't cross it.

Help!!!!

that's what i thought when i first saw them, and i figured they would die out soon enough, but within the past 2 days it's gone from usually no ants visible to literally hundreds crawling on the side of the pot. i am leaving college for home tomorrow and i won't have time to get insecticide, i might just throw the tree in the dumpster

and apparently they learned how to drop off the overhanging pot to get out, but they can't get back in

cinammon works pretty well on ants, they dont like it or something. My roommate and I had a big ant problem and we sprinkled cinammon around the edges of the room and they went away. Or maitenence noticed and got rid of hem.

Take it out of your room. Use chemicals. Seal up however they're getting in and destroy colonies near the entryways.

Can't you plant the tree outside somewhere? Instead of just throwing it outside. That way, the ants are happy and you are happy.

Is it a dorm or an apartment? If dorm, get rid of plant and notify someone so they can bomb the room. If apartment, get rid of the plant and bomb the room yourself.

Go get a can of ant spray and spray the tree, or throw the tree out. How hard is that to figure out?

in anycase take it outside, wear gloves and long sleeved shirt. dump the dirt out and repot it, or just throw the damn thing outside.

Sure, stop using organic fertilizer on it. Some pesticide granules will prolly clear them buggers right up though.

Just sprinkle a little in the pot. The ants will take it where thier main nest is (outside) and kill all/most of them.
