that's just sad tho.. always liked gainward, and have owned several of their products in the past (still have my red pcb gf3). hated to see them dump north america 🙁

I gave my Gainward GF3 Ti200 away this past year. Still runs like a champ. Loved that card.

I was wondering if the Gainward video card model #{GX-032-GW} was really a 24 pipe AGP card with 512 megs of memory Also is it possible to ship to america?

Serioulsy, it's time to drop AGP. You will be glad you spent the little bit extra to get a more upgradable platform. Just to be clear, I don't have any motive for suggesting this to the OP. It's his money, and I ultimately don't care how he spends it, I just don't think that recommeding a $400+ card to strap into an aging system is the most responsible recommendation at this point.

There on sale for 199.00 bgp with the link I gave him. Thats not bad for a7900gtx agp
 
It's time to take the PCI-e plunge, my friend! Pick up a cheap but still good NF4 board like the DFI Ultra-D and a cheap CPU (like a 3000+ A64; I just bought one for $30!), overclock the CPU to 2.5 GHz. Sell your current board/mobo/CPU.

Pick up a nice cheap PCI-e card like a 7900GT. With a little planning, you will barely spend any money and get a MUCH more future proof system (and faster, of course!).

199 + VAT = 234.99 GBP ($441.27 USD)...

Plus, this AGP card is still not equivalent to a GTX. Its stock clocks are slower by 200/250. I don't think that an OC of 200MHz on the core would be considered insignificant. Sure it's possible, but certainly not guaranteed... Just because it's got 512MB of RAM doesn't make it a GTX. Besides, the 7950GT is going to be upon us shortly, which also has 512MB of RAM, is clocked a bit lower than GTX (still faster then the GS+), and should sell for somewhere around $300-350.

...An eVGA GTX is now $399 USD ($375 AMIR) at newegg, so ~$400 for a car clocked about 30% slower isn't what I would consider "not bad"...

This isn't against you at all... I just really don't think the OP would be spending his money wisely to drop a $400 AGP card into an Athlon XP M 2600+ machine when he could upgrade the whole thing to a system with an Athlon64 3700+ for about $100-150 more. I didn't even try very hard to look for good deals, so I'm sure that he could do even better with a bit of effort.

Thanks for all your replies. They have been very helpful and I've decided to sell my current rig and upgrade to an Abit SLI PCIe mobo, DDR2 800 (2 GB) and 2 GeForce 7950GTs, and a DC AMD Athlon 4800+.🙂
