I have an obsession with old computers

I honestly cannot stop buying this crap. Today other then buying a new car picked up a dual 1.4Ghz P3 tower with 4 gigs of ram, no OS but 4 15K 75gb SCSI drives. Grand total? 25 dollars. haha

Its kinda slow but will store files very nicely.

Saw that on newegg.

Oh, and I can top you OP. I found a filleted amiga 500 for $2.00 at a thrift store. Motherboard and guts mounted on a cork frame. It's on the wall in my basement!

still not worth keeping on though.

This computer is going to be swapped with the office computer just as soon as i get a cheap ass video card. Decided that 1 I7 system is enough and its not worth spending the cash on another setup. The lady can deal with this slow MOFO 🙂

This computer is probably on par with an Amd Athlon 🙂

Psh... Your drive doesn't use 500W to to store files

fixed?

I like old enterprise-class systems that were like $20k-$40k when they first came out.. and they're like $500 on Ebay now..

Especially.. rack-mount drive arrays.. Still insanely fast performance..

OLD? I had an old Cyrix 486 system and a Pentium 133, both in operational condition, until about 3 years ago when I donated them to the local school's technology lab so kids could take them apart. As a joke, I called Gateway a few years ago (I think 2002) (the Pentium 133 system) and they quoted the system value at $15 and the monitor (17" CRT) at $25.

JUst tried to switch it on today. PSU's went out on me. Thankfully i have a 500W just lying around.

There's an old server or whatever you call it. Has room for 8 900mhz P3 Xeon's. I wonder how that would perform with 8 fucking processors.
