Approximately a year ago, plus or minus a few months, SharkyForums.com was a thriving online community.
But management got worried that Off Topic was turning too political, too argumentative and often just plain too stupid and silly.
They gave us some time to change, which no one did. Then they closed OT.
When I came to ATOT from SF, I barely posted here because I didn't know anyone and I didn't feel at home.
Now I do feel at home and I also have a sense of how things work around here.
At first things were great. It seemed people had the ability to take things both lightheartedly and seriously and knew when either was appropriate.
But now ATOT reminds me all too much of SFOT in its dying moments.
If you can't do anything better than walk around from one thread to another and declare how stupid you think the thread is, mock it or randomly insult other posters, why do do you bother coming here? Start a thread of your own if you're so wonderful at making interesting topics.
It's one thing to get angry at a member of ATOT if they make a thread like "hi - how r u dewd? 🙂" and completely another if they make a legitimate post and you just don't like it or don't agree with it. If it's the former, DONT POST IN THAT THREAD! If it's the latter, make your case respectfully for christ's sake!
Anyway that's my two cents that no one will listen to.
