I have an interview today for Sitel. I was given a card of someone to call and did. When I told her the name of the company that I used to work for, she basically ushered me right into an interview. :D

Along with FettsBabe, please pray for my interview going well! :)

<update>

Well, the first "round" seemed only to be tests. Customer service tests, personality tests, technical tests, grammar tests, spelling tests, typing tests, the whole lot. I passed those with flying colors and was told that I would wait until the end of the month if the recruiters liked what they saw. If not, I'd get a denial letter in about 1.5 weeks. Well, last night I got a phone call and was offered an interview Thursday at 13:30! :D WOOHOO! I'll go for the interview, but this means that I have to start dressing up on a regular basis. This is a dress-casual place. :frown: Oh well. Dress slacks and a solid color t-shirt... think that's dress-casual? I have no idea what dress casual means :eek:

<update #2>

I wore dress slacks, a solid color t-shirt, and a fleece. I have nice-looking black slip ons that don't exactly look like tennis shoes or basketball shoes, but that's all I have. Turns out the interviewer went to the same private school I did. Score. We had a great time. She took me around the call floor at the end of the interview, and :Q:Q:Q I'VE NEVER SEEN A CALL FLOOR SO OPEN, LIT, OR LITERALLY ANTI-DEPRESSING BEFORE! Lots of color! Lots of space! Lots of light! Remembering what my previous employer was like, this was night-and-day!! :D

I'll know by Tuesday whether I get the job or not. There are three teams hiring, and one of them requires a background and credit check to get onto. That's the one I said I would prefer to be on, but if for some reason my credit doesn't check out (because I know my background check will), she'll try for the other two teams in my requested order. Her boss has to go over the interview and give the final yay/nay, so I might get a call today, Saturday, Monday, and if not then, I should get a call definitely by Tuesday.

/me crosses my fingers

I've made it this far, that would suck to get shot down at the last minute.

<UBAR UPDATE>

:D I got the job! :D

WOOHOO!!!!

Employment again! I have rent enough for February, so it doesn't matter when my first check comes in. Depending on which team I get on dictates when I start. If I get on the team I want, I start this Tuesday. If I get on my second choice, I start this Monday. They're going to run a background and credit check before letting me onto the team I want. If that doesn't work out (credit is my only worry), then I get put on the second team. I'm so excited! I can't wait to get inside and see what this place is like. Oh, and the client is actually on site. No more emailing the client to see WTF's going on. We can just walk over to the GM rep and ask him. :D They pay will be nice, too. For the first week, through training, I'll be making $.20 less per hour than I was making at the HellHole, but when I get out on the call floor on my own, I'll be making $.80 more per hour than I was back there. :D

Y E S !

I made it.

....and just for the sake of interest.....

Break a leg

Meaning: A wish of good luck, do well.

Example: Break a leg in your game today.

Origin: "Break a leg" is sourced in superstition. It is a wish of good luck, but the words wish just the opposite.
It was once common for people to believe in Sprites. Sprites are actually spirits or ghosts that were believed to enjoy wreaking havoc and causing trouble.

If the Sprites heard you ask for something, they were reputed to try to make the opposite happen. Telling someone to "break a leg" is an attempt to outsmart the Sprites and in fact make something good happen. Sort of a medieval reverse psychology.

Of course it has became a popular wish of luck for theater performers.

Yeah, the company that I contracted through to do work for ATTBI kept tightening the noose. Pulling even more bullshiznit than before. So instead of comply with requirements that were outright illegal, I walked out. I'm not sure whether to file a complaint with Boley or not, but between three of us (two who still work there), we have enough documentation to do it. And, through them, I can get new info and submit it under my own claim so they don't get backlash from the company for being involved.

Anyway, it's one huge fscked up company. Since quitting, I haven't felt this good in ... well, 1 year and 9 months. :)

Actually, one of the things I intend to do is to be slightly aggressive at the right moments during my interview. Confident and intelligent (yeah, shadap. :p). One of the important parts to a successful call is call control.

Dude, I don't know if you want to work at Sitel - they have a big call center here in Madison, WI and everybody I know who has worked there has hated their job beyond belief. A tech support job there is known to be one of the lowest level tech jobs possible. (although maybe you're applying for manager for all I know).

Definitely look around and keep your options open!! Are they offering decent pay or don't you know?? I know the one here pays $9.00 an hour and very little room for advancement/raises. May just be the one here... Good luck!

I'm not sure what the pay is. That's one of the things that I'm going to find out. If this doesn't pan out, Nextel is hiring like freaking crazy over here. $10 in training and $11 to start on the floor.

Until I get certifications, this is the closest hands-on I can get. I'm gathering experience with things while I put myself through school. And, yes, I'm a glutton for punishment. I'll run into a room with four CTs and try mowing them all down with my Para.

Fails every time.

:p

Man, you really are a glutton for punishment!

Right now, I need a job. Period. I don't have room to be picky, so we'll try with another company - one that hopefully isn't full of shady, illegal shiz.

I actually enjoy phone support (it's what i do)
when the people are for the most part nice, it's a pleasure.

It was real smart of you to quit your job if you had nothing else lined up

I know you have been reading threads about people being unemployed... why would people quit at a time like this with no where else to go...:confused:

Indeed. :) I LOVE when I get a good call. I'd get one every now and then - and it made my day.

I'm not one to quit a job... at all... And I was pushed farther than my limit almost every single day. more than a year and a half of that and I simply couldn't take it anymore.
