My dad had both and he preferred Dish. He said they were easier to deal with and a better bargain. He didnt want too many channels and he managed to get a package from Dish that suited him perfectly.


I dont watch TV anymore so I couldnt offer any advice from personal experience. I use cable for internet service and dont even have a TV box. They still charge me 10 bucks a month for TV service though.

Western NY is losing NBC (channel 4). I wonder wtf is up with Time Warner since this appears to be happening all over the place. Are they really trying to play hardball?? They're going to lose customers.

Anyway, if directv is installed correctly, outages due to the weather should be rather rare - maybe twice a year in the middle of the worst storms. If wind is causing outage, it's not directv; it's the idiot who installed it. Most of the installers work as independent contractors (afaik.) I'd think that directv would get rid of the ones that cause them headaches.
