I have been battling this for almost a year now and I want to get the print server function to work but after over a dozen calls to the USRobotics tech support I still can't get it to work (they are kinda boneheads...I get different responses every time). I use my desktop as a print server but that desktop obviously has to be running all the time).

I bought the US Robotics 8022 Wireless Router with Print Server and analog modem port.

The problem I am having with it is trying to get the printer to work through the through the router. I think some of the problem is that the printer is bidirectional (but it can be disabled) and the router doesn't work with bidirectional printers.

I have an HP 4L laser printer. It is not a network printer.

My goal is to be able to send print jobs directy to my printer via the router (I don't want to use my other PC as a print server).

Any suggestions?

I hope I don't have to buy a new printer to get this to work.

I have a Netgear w/Print Server. It came with software on a CD to get the PrintServer running. You install the software on each PC and it provides a printer port for the setup when installing a printer. Don't know how else to explain this, hope this makes sense.

I can get mine to work without the software but you have to go through a whole ordeal to print to an IP address on the network. I did it in Xp and I know I couldn't tell you how I did it.

Check for software on any disks you got with it.

Check the bottom of the page.

Hi Boomerang. Thanks for the post. I started working on this problem months ago and I don't recall if I d/l that program you linked. I'll do it again just in case.

Is you Netgear router wireless?

No, mine is not.
But if your network is working, then it's just an issue with the print server.
