Thanks all for reading this.

I plan on getting a HDTV, not looking to spend much... maybe 1000-1500 MAX...

I plan on using this TV for XBOX and DVDs played by the XBOX...

How do I know if TVs already have the HDTV coding or if they require that "Addon" decoder box?

I'm really not good w/ televisions.. just wondering if I can get the HDTV supported games and movies playing on the XBOX if I just get that High Definition pack that Microsoft Offers

Also... any good television advice for that kind of money??

THANKS!

The money is buring a hole in my pocket! Gotta hurry and buy!! :)

Any HDTV capable units in your price range will be just that - Capable.

The tuner adds a significant premium.

I would try to expand your budget to the 1800-2000 range & get a nice HDTV capable RPTV.

[EDIT]Now that I read your post again stretching it further may not be an option...

I would get this

Add to that:

- AVIA calibration DVD
- Progressive scan DVD player
- Component video cables

Thanks

I was looking at this sony rear-projection -- 43 inches I believe, it says HDTV also

Do all HDTVs need the receiver? Or would the ones like this SONY already have it, SONY KP43HT20

Nope, which is why I suggested buying a standalone DVD player - Otherwise you'll be missing out.

Heh...I almost bought that last time Best Buy did their no interest for 24 months deal. I measured the width of it and it wouldn't fit in my entertainment center by 1/4". :Q

I ended up buying the JVC 47" HDTV projection unit. I was going to buy the Samsung 47" but the picture quality between the two was nearly equal IMO and the JVC had extra inputs in the back.

But, back to Syringer, you aren't going to find any projection HDTVs with a built-in HDTV decoder for your price range. Not unless you find a return or something.

I was looking at the same thing.

Stupid BB wouldn't give me more than $800 credit though.

Applied for an Amazon Visa later that same day, got $3,000.

Screw BB.

Hehe...Actually, Best Buy doesn't technically extend credit. They use a company called Retail Credit Corporation. Rooms To Go uses the same outfit. Every lending institution looks at credit reports differently so they'll extend credit differently.
