I have a process on my computer named System. Just that.

No .exe, nothing. It's just called 'system.' Any idea on what this is? I checked on my parents' computer and they didn't have it, but I'm not entirely sure if I want to just end it just yet, so I'm asking here. What is this thing?

Edit: I was thinking of system32.exe or something, which is a virus. This appears to be nothing, but I still wonder why I have it, yet my parents don't...

System is the kernel/anything running within the kernel (kernel drivers, etc.).

It has been there since the good ole days of NT.
