I have a peice of software called bigfix for my computer...

I don't know, more details are necessary.
Where did it come from?
What does it do?
How long has it been there?
What process' are it associated with?
O/S?

Is your computer an eMachines system? If so, it's probably just their updater/notification software and you can simply uninstall it.

If it's not an OEM computer, you should run a spyware scan to see if anything else is running on the computer that shouldn't be.

I picked up a Gateway a few months ago and it had BigFix on it as well. I uninstalled it.

Its supposed to provide product updates, support, or remote assistance if you need it.

yep, its a gateway laptop. so its probably better to just get rid of it, or should i keep it?

That depends on how dilgent you are with updates. If you are good, then get rid of it. If you are like a co worker of mine whose anti virus software hadn't been updateed since 2003, keep it.

I know someone with a gateway desktop. At first I saw some bigfix updates but after a while I never saw anymore. I say uninstall it. It's just another example of bloat.
