I Have A New Job!

Hey guys and gals, I'm retired and employeed again. I am a Work Group Manager (glorified mini administrator). I left the Air Force and am doing the same thing as a contractor. Nothing change much except the building I work in.

I am a fellow that has been reading and posting on these forums for quite some time. Sorry if my enthusiasm about retiring after 26 years of service offends you. I'll try to post less frequently in the future.

nakedfrog, I put in 26 as my previous post indicates and I would do it all over again if I had the chance. I have been all over the US, Asia and Europe to include Hawaii and Alaska.

You're right but I still enjoy reading and posting with everyone else. I have learned a lot here and enjoyed a lot of good reading. Which is why I keep coming back.

chambersc, I get a pretty good pension but the new job pays as good as my military job but with good benefits as well. The important thing is I love my job and work for free if I had enough money.

Nothing cooler than old farts that don't know when to quit. Yeah you heard me. If you retire, then freaking retire. Trust me, nobody wants to work with 70 year olds that don't know when to quit. Am I just talking about of my ass? No, I have intimate experience with this.

That should be a pretty decent check... my GF's dad retired after 20-some odd years, then was a civilian contractor for long enough to get another retirement check, and up until his knee surgery, he was working at Lowe's

I wasn't offended. It's just that your post was worded as if we were supposed to know about your life, your job, and the building you work in. We don't. You don't post enough that most of us know you. If you want to post about your job, give some details and stuff at least, not a one-line post that leaves us thinking, "um.... that's nice I guess".

I start my new job Wednesday, I am very excited.

Went from doing Software QA to a Special Teams Support Analyst with a much bigger software company. Hopefully I can spend the next 20 years with this company and retire at 50. Right now my wife and I put away $1000 a month for retirement and live in the south. So 50 is doable.

Did I mention that I'm excited?

All the men in my family besides myself did the Airforce thing, my dad was in for 27 years.

Thanks folks. I'm at Microsoft Server 2003 Netowking school at this moment in time (which is why I didn't get to post for the last hour).

I am pulling about 30K for retirement. Not a farmer (always wanted to be one), just another IT worker with a twist. Still supporting the Air Force through a civilian contracting firm.

I'm pushing fifty now, so retiring at 50 is out of the question. If I retired now, I would go crazy anyway.
