build a kit helicopter and get certified to fly it

easily achievable - helluva lot more affordable than a private cessna - kits are 10-50k, like buying a second fun car

i should look into the lessons and license thing <2 yr, and own a heli craft in 5 years

a kit helicopter...

kit airplanes make me cringe flying around in my airspace, a kit helicopter is just retarded.

Heh, with me, a kit helicopter would by necessity have to be at the end of my bucket list.

that's scary, I wouldn't trust my assembly skills enough to put together a helicopter.

Ugh, first the black avatar is giving away free Ipods and now they are trying to advertise cheap helicopters.

Where will it end? ;)

i dont think you have to get certified to fly a kit helicopter. However, i guess you would want some kind of training before you went flying around in a bladed death capsule.

Make sure that's the last thing on your bucket list because you are going to fuck it up somehow and die.

LOL at the responses!

Cool, yes. With my skills? Successful, NO! The only saving grace would be that the helicopter probably wouldn't even start, much less leave the ground.

I built a helecopter kit about 25 years ago. Spent all spring and half the summer making it. Spent 1000s on the remote alone. First test flight was in a parking lot in lower manhattan. Thats when I found out it was illegal in NYC. Cops came and took it. :( I mean, I could get in the thing and fly it but it was huge and could decapitate someone I guess.
