I don't use violence unless I'm defending myself or someone else. Neither do other civilized humans. Furthermore, the theft is obviously a product of addiction. If your sick friend threw up on your couch, would you beat him up?

I hope someone steals something of yours, you hit beat him and he calls the cops. Violent thugs should go to jail.
