i have a few questions on arctic alumina.

okay, before i apply it, i have to clean up my heatsink and my CPU of that self adhesive thermal tape stuff (yucky). anyway, i found out it doesnt come off real easily, although i noticed i can scratch it off with my fingernail. is this safe? im concerned about the health of my CPU core.

i tried using isophyrl (sp) alchohol (70% by volume) but that doesnt help much unless its little particles. can i use nail polish remover? i didnt see that mentioned on arcticsilver.com but its an idea.

anyway, another question. is it possible to take the fan and heatsink off my radeon 8500 retail and sandwhich some arctic alumina in there in place of the stock thermal compound? and will this offer better cooling?

thanks

take a credit card you are going to throw away (yea i know you're only 14 or something), and scrape scrape scrape really hard...or paint thinner or goof off might work as well

anythings possible, if you know what you are doing, do it

thanks fatbaby, you always answer my questions. anyway, if its safe to scrape, then its no problem. i was just scared scraping would sort of damage the CPU core, i wont scrape hard, but i was afraid to do it at all. heh

get a flat razor blade
that will take it off real clean
i did that then just lapped the heatsink afterwards anyways
fingernail polish remover will work
just think of it like a hunk of aluminum you aren't gonna hurt it
