I have to admit, I like her tunes... they're catchy.

I don't think the image she's putting out is truly her - just a wannabe skater.

That being said, I'd still like to meet her someday... *cough*

She was doing a interview at one of the radio stations (Mix 99.9 FM) and I was there that day. It was 2 months ago when they had her song "Complicated" playing all the time. I personally wasn't nats on that song or her at the time since she's new. But after listening to a few more songs I think she'll do good. Her "Sk8er Boi" song is my favorite, following by "Complicated".

i'm pretty sure thats how it is for all bands now.. which annoys me. i wish peopel coudl just be themselves in front of the camera.

Yeah... I dunno. One of the few artists I respect in that sense is Eminem; I think a bit of it is contrived, but his writing is honest.

Good point! I can't stand Eminem, but at least I dislike him for who he is, not who is portrayed to be.

There was like a 5 page thread at genmay (registered just for that thread) about her without makeup. Had pics. She looks like Axl Rose. It's really crazy how much those folks can do to make someone look like that on tv. Searching has been disabled so I can't find it

It was on a radio website. My history is too big to go back and look.

True dat... Who knows anymore . I guess the media is my whole venue to his real personality so that view is probably more clowdy than a Vancouver sky in December.

heh.. true.. still a good point though to begin with about him-- his image may be contrived, but what he says seems honest.

The only problem I have with Avril is that she tries to look goth and "different," while singing the same stuff I consider to be pop, just like Christina Aguilera and Jessica Simpson, etc.....

but at least she can sing! And I do think she's cute, I just don't like her style.

Hmm... I've always found the correlation of fashion to music intersting... why does it matter? If that's her look so be it... as long as it is her look and not some corporate exec. I believe that is her look, but the execs are using it and embelishing it to give her some sort of symbol.

As far as Avril goes, It's catchy. I won't change the station if I hear it.
