As soon as you feel it coming on, take Zinc and suck on "cold-eeze" (I think i spelled it right). Seems to work for me. Once you get it there isn't anything you can do to make it go away faster you can just do things to make it less miserable for you (pills, vitamins, lots of sleep, etc).
