I have a 64 mb card, says 32 mb on startup

Hi i have the hercules prophet mx 400 64 mb and when win2k is loading and has info about the card, it says 32mb...whats the problem?
 
BTW This problem only started once i installed win 2k pro on my system just today...with win 98 se this problem never occured...if thats any help 😉
 
hmm, it could just be a driver thing with 2k.

What does it say on boot up (before the memmory count screen)

I have a Geforce 2 MX card that 3dMark 2001 says has 0Mb of onboard ram, never caused any probs.
 
hmm, then it IS a 32Mb card. If you got it as a 64Mb card then I would consider taking it back.

Hercules

According the the tech sheets the MX 400 only comes in 32Mb. If you are geting it replaced consider a Gainward MX400, that I beleive is currently the fastest MX on the market

From a speed point of view, you probably will not see much difference. The MX is limited by memory bandwidth so starts to get fairly slow before the extra memory is really needed.
 
Well it HAS 64 mb box says 3d prophet II mx 64 mb...and this same card on my comuputer when i had win 98 SE said 64 mb...
 
I may has missed something on the Hercules site, but it looks like that they don't have a MX400 which is 64 Mb, they do have a standard MX though.

The boot up screen is OS inderpendent, thus if it says there is 32 Mb then there is 32 Mb

The way I see it there are 2 options
1 - You have a MX400 in a MX box
2 - You got a MX400 with 64Mb ram (If so can you tell me where), and board has been damaged.



 
Well i just put on win 2k yesterday, and prior to that i was using win 98 and on the boot up screen it said 64 mb...only after i got win 2k on it sometimes says 64 mb and sometimes 32 mb. I called Hercules and they said they would send me the RMA info...think i should do it?
 
OK I guess ill RMA it once they send me the info i need in email..i called them early this morning and i still didnt get an email...ill just have to bug them again if i dont get it by Friday 😉
