i have a 2.4c@ 2.8 with 3500 512 hyperx

or would the 2700 bottle neck me.

i just bought a 6800OC and wanted to see if switching my current 2.4c@2.8 and 512 hyperx to a 3.0E prescott w/ 2700 gig of micron would be better

thoughts?

for new gaming then, the one with the gig will be alot smoother. 512 is too little for games such as Hl2

&& because its dual channel 2700, the bandwidth isnt too low me thinks (although a bit lower than the possible throughput of the 800mhz CPU)

63bit huh? Lol never heard of that one

As for your question do not get rid of that 2.4C, That will stomp the sh!t out of a prescott especially oced via FSB>

I say gety another 512mb of RAM (2x512 NOT 4x256 as you will have to raise the command rate to 2t which severely hampers performance) and run it in dual channel in sync.

I would advise agbainst this "upgrade as it is more like a downgrade.

P4's are bandwidth hungry, PC2700 with a 3ghz prescott would degrade the performance. If you are already using pc3500 ddr with your 2.4@2.8, why would you buy slower ram for a faster proccessor?? And PC3200 and PC2700 cost about the same, so again, why would you go with slower ram??

because i found a gig for 120 bucks, crucial ram. im gonna cut out the overclocking for a while atleast until i move to amd.

i went with a 2.8c and the gig of 2700. i might push it up to 3.0 if that crucial will which i dont see it having a problem doing that.

my 3500 went for 73 bucks a stick on new eggg(256 stick) and i cant afford a gig of that right now. i found a guy to trade my ram for his gig.

Running 2T on P4's really doesn't make that much of a difference....unlike the A64's where the difference is HUGE.

Otherwise I agree. Keep that 2.4C and OC the crap out of it. 🙂
