I played a few games that I used to play with my DX2/66 back in 94, and they ran in absolute fast forward using a P3/384Megs. I also downloaded the sequel to one of my favs, Syndicate Wars, and all I did was click on a building to move dude #1, and then a lot of explosions and blood flashed. Quarantine ran like a bat out of hell.

Anyone know of good places to buy archaic computer parts to play games from the 92-96 era?

PliotronX: why not try that program called moslo.exe, that slows down your processor to a fraction of normal speed? I've been playing MechWarrior I on my P3-933 with 384MB of RAM with no real problems....just takes a little fine tuning to get the speed right.

Based on everything I've read, here's what I'll do:

I have 256 Megs of Physical RAM
I will add the system.ini line

ConservativeFileSwapUsage=1
Let Windows handle my VM

Is this the best bet for someone who games?

What about making a virtual drive out of some of your memory, then having windows use that entire drive for your swap file? That aughta work.

rojay, that's what I was thinking.

Why not create a ramdrive and use that as your swap file since you have 512megs o' ram.

I would use 192 megs for windows to use because anything over that is really overkill unless your using win2000 or NT. YOu can use the other 320megs of ram as your ramdrive. You can tell windows to use the ramdrive as swap file. You'll never ever swap again....
