I have 5 downloads going on right now...

The last one is now down to around 600 kbps and holding there...must be limited by the servers I'm downloading from. 😀

FTR-This isn't pron.

Catalyst 10.7 d/l @ 2.1 MB/s from ATI's site.

The funny part is my cable is supposed to be only 8 Mbps. Factor in a 20% overhead I should only get 800 KB/s tops.

I downloaded Alien Swarm on Steam at 10MB/s, a solid order of magnitude faster than you. That's bytes, not your measly bits 😉

Too bad I can't play it b/c my AthlonXP lacks SSE2. FAIL 🙁

I know of games that requires a DX9 video card to work but SSE2? Wth?

I have no fucking idea. I'm not really sure where they need SSE2 instructions b/c I can run at least some (read: HL2+friends) source games w/o problems.

But yeah, Valve nearly made me cry:

I promised myself a PC upgrade later this year, but I'm soooo tempted to get a cheap p4+mobo and slap in my other components to play.

Edit: though I recently learned how to implement SSE2 optimizations in my own projects, so honestly kudos to the Valve guys if SSE2 is actually improving performance in some substantial way. (Anti-kudos if it isn't really helping & just preventing poor students w/shitty computers from playing.)

So, you got 16+mbit service?
It's nice, but after a while you get used to it and then you're gonna be wishing your ISP offered faster service in your area. I would like at least 50mbit...

This is from work. This is prolly limited by my system though. I wish they had a server at Ga. Tech. We are an internet 2 site and so are they. I could move to another system and get MUCH faster speeds.

i think TWC upped our speed again, i was sustaining 1.8 megs/sec the other day on something i was downloading
