i only use my main rig (see sig below), but have 3 other pcs standing by if i never need them (all hooked up to my belkin soho omniview 4port kvm). i'd have them on but i'm trying to keep the electricity bill down to a minimum..

I have 13 PC's with the pics to prove it.

My 5 severs (e-mail, web, gaming and such)Same rack lower. bottom of rack The Magna server is empty, so it doesn't count. Ditto for the cases and parts on the rack. I am not counting the mainboards and such in there.

My "workstation" w/4 PC's 'Nother pic The Silver toolbox is one of my lancases, and the one uder it is a k6 266 Linux box.

And then the coup de gracie (sp?) My downstairs computer room ( notice the drawing of my mommy Why would I want to walk up a flight of stairs to go online? i want to post on AT now damnit!

Then I have my other Lancase Which you can see some of in that pic. Not included in the totals are my brothers PC and my parents PC's. Since they are not mine, I did not include them in my total. So if you are counting, this house has 15 computers.

Lets see.. I/we have a 1.6A@ 2.1 with all the goodies, a 700@933 with some nice goodies, a PIII 550 Katmai , a PIII 600 and a P100. Then we have a 1G laptop and a 733 laptop.

so that makes 7 for us.

I have 4 systems here, my main windoze box, i pretty much am on this pc many hours every day, then my Linux Box, usually used for IRC, also like te mess around with it. Then theres the box i like to use for lans ... and then the extra box .... Other members of my family frequently use the lan box and the spare ... thats how i justify having them

When they gave me a pretty new updated laptop from work, I wasn't even all that excited. WTF do I need 2 machines for? This simple 1GHz / 384MB / 110GB storage space does it all - gaming, video capturing, DVD ripping, 3D, web/ftp server, etc. Learn to be resourceful.

Isn't there a power shortage going on somewhere at this hour ?!

You must be rich - all those legal copies of non-free OSs in there. And then the other licensed software you've installed on each of them.

At one point, I had (14) computers running at home and 2 at work. :Q

I was doing around 70 to 80 (SETI) work units per day; it was rather expensive(electricity) to do and I've had to cut back significantly. Now I'm down to just 4 at home and 3 at work.

EDIT: Oh, and except for a couple at work, all of my rigs were(and still are, with one exception) over 900MHz each.. about half were dual cpu rigs too.

Heh... some of you folks are pretty whacked...

Between my g/f and I, we used to have 4, but now we're down to 2 (I have my old 333Mhz iMac to my mom, and my PII 400Mhz to my brother), so I'm left with the XP1800+ and my g/f's got her 350Mhz PII "email box"..

Now I need to put together something reasonably current to run Linux on..

I used to have this addiction, i even sported a total of 8 fully functioning computers at one point a few years ago. I've given that up, and so far for 2 years now, I've stood by my once a year major upgrade. I've gotten almost one happy year out of my 8KHA+ Rig, and really hove no plans to upgrade the Motherboard, just the CPU....

These days I keep my main rig for the usual stuff, being porn, and more porn. The 2nd rig is a P3 933 that I'm using to run Logic Audio and Pro-Tools on (with my M-Audio Card). I have a crappy old laptop. and that's all these days.
I'm saving my pennies to buy start my own Sound company....
Talk about upgrade-itis..... it's like the heroin of gear.... and good lord, Pro-Audio Gear is EXPENSIVE! Once you buy one peice of gear, you want more!

I know because I helped a friend get his company to where it is today, and worked for him for 12 years until we got divorced!
Example- I want to get another Crown Macro-Tech 5002vz (5000 watt amp) for my subs...... $2700 bucks! I want some DSP in place of my Crossover, $1200. I want this new Microphone $400......etc..... new 48 input console $25,000....... Talk about poor return on investment!

I have 2 pretty equal computers, but one is just standing in the closet and I have no clue as what to do with it but I dont want to sell it either (wouldnt be worth s§$t anyway)
