but flot posting it here is a pretty good idea.

what if someone here decides they want that car. then they can save themselves quite a bit of time and/or money getting it.

Shoot if i weren't saving my pennies for an SUV type (avalanche or mb new f150), i would try to buy this car from him.

I have no idea what your problem is here. You can either buy it for a good price, or you can pass it up. What's the problem? This seems like everyday stuff here. Perhaps you should not put a deposit down on something you don't even know if you want.

Buy it, resell it and pocket at least 5,000....

this is a no-brainer

I'm having a hard time understanding this. Why do you care if the dealer makes extra profit off of this? Big deal, car dealers rip people off everyday on transactions that you have no involvement in at all. Do those make you mad too? Maybe you should start a business where you buy cars from dealers, and then sell them to people to protect them from dealers ripping them off. Or maybe you should just save yourself the trouble, get your deposit back, and forget the whole thing ever happened. The way I figure it, if someone is stupid enough to pay that much of a markup on a car, they deserve to be ripped off, or they have the money to spend. Either way, I don't care.

Isn't that what he's trying to do? The 350Z isn't a $35K car without a heavy markup.

I saw a 350Z on the road the other day...good thing I wasn't driving because I couldn't take my eyes off it for awhile. :)

BTW, I wouldn't worry to much about them making a 10k profit on it - someone will buy it and someone will be very happy with it...and very happy that they are the first kid on the block to have one. ;)

I call BS.

350Z's only selling 2K above MSRP

The markup will vary by location as well.

flot, maybe you should consider a Lightning instead. People who own one never have "buyers remorse". ;)

MrT I'm certainly not making this stuff up. <laugh> They literally had a sticker that said "Market Adjustment: $10,000" right next to the factory options sheet. Now, I'm sure that if you walked in and offered $7,000 over they'd sell it to you... maybe as little as $5000... but still, it's such an absurdity.

That is going to be highly market dependant. For instance, I haven't YET seen one on ebay sell for over MSRP. And there _are_ dealers all over the country who will sell at MSRP. But here in S. Florida, things are a little different. The mercedes dealers, for instance - aren't allowed to sell their new cars above sticker. So what happens? Mysteriously all the new models are available 'USED' with 200-300 miles on them.... and as much as a $30,000 markup over MSRP.

I might be interested in getting a Z. Can someone point me to a good forum? Also, what do you guys think is the "best bang for the buck" trim level?

I don't understand buyers' remorse. Why would you buy something if you didn't like it? Just goes right over my head. I have never understood how people can car shop for a month and still not be satisfied.

16 hours???? That's almost impossible, noone will put a deposit for 35k on a car within that time. You'd almost have to sell it to a friend, because advertising doesn't come along in that time..

I dunno what you'd do dude, personally i think you're screwed...

Good luck with it though, you could sell it..

How in the hell did you think a normally aspirated six would be more powerful that a TT Z??

I'm pretty amused at the various directions this thread has taken. ;-)

And yes, I believed the hype that this would be "the best" and "the fastest" Z ever... not so. They must have some very tame horses over there in Japan...

But alas, my time is up - I'm going to call the dealer and tell them they can have their car back...

Ask the dealer if they will split the additional markup with you if you don't take it otherwise buy it and sell it. What dealer would walk away from easy money.

In Japan they are selling the Nismo tuned Fairlady Z (350Z) and cranks out around 400 Hp (don't remember the exact figure). It cost around 75K US dollars.

Let me get his straight. You gave them 10K on a factory order?

You're screwed. Start begging. Next time you order a car from the factory $500 is the maximum
