SO I bought the VF700 ALCU HSF for my GPU...Everything is fine except that one of its rare screws is out of proportion (The other one is fine) ...I can't fit that screw into the male screw of the other one...This totally sux!!

Screw Zalman, screw overclockers.co.uk :|

What now? Should I tell them to give me a refund without sending the item, RMA after 3 months, or ask them to ship a screw to Karachi? WTF? (I bought it from the UK but now i am in Karachi Pakistan) Or should I just eat the 40$?

The main reason I bought the Zalman was to unblock the SATA ports on the MOBO. I had bought a raptor but unfortunately it got shipped to the wrong address! So I wont be needing the VF anyways anymore!

I have overclockers.co.uk !!! :|

Take a chill pill and contact them by the 800 number. Tell them you need a new part and they will send you one for FREE.

Youve got to remember Im in Pakistan. Im going to go and try to find the screw if I can from a hardware store. Otherwise I will request overclockers.co.uk to send me a screw (shipping will cost them 4-6$)

Otherwise I will wait 2-3 months when I go back there (if I do) and then send it back for a refund)

It is really pissing off when you get something from abroad and it ends up having a really small fault which results in the stuff not working.

Why do you keep wasting money on aftermarket cooling when you already have NV5?

From this review LINK, Arctic silencers are just as good as the Zalman's. I dont understand why you decided to change it.

Obviosuly you ahvent read all the posts.

I changed becuase the NV5 was blocking the SATA ports on my new MOBO...It was chepaer to get other cooling that a SATA controller

You're an idiot. WHat a sh itty reason to hate Zalman.

I bought that huge 7700 AlCu cooler for my Northwood and used the wrong screws and literally scratched and broke my motherboard.

I didn't blame Zalman.

I just calmly re-ordered the same mobo and chalked it up to experience.

No offense Hatim, but this is a pretty petty reason to hate a company. Zalman IMO makes excellent products; they are always among the leaders of the pack in the performance/noise category.

It does suck about that disproportioned screw, but do you really want to "screw Zalman" over a screw?

Just the simple fact that Im in Karachi maybe? Its going to be almost impossible to find a replacement anywhere. Anyways I looked closesly and the female end of the screw didnot have any rings. Thats just lame. I cant use the thing, just beuase of a stupid manafacturing mistake :( ...And probably the whole product is useless becuase of it.

piroroadkill, This wasnt my fault. You broke the mobotherboard by using the wrong screws. I got a faulty product which I will not be able replace. And the fact that I will no be able to use SATA drives which I have oredred which really piss me off. One small mistake and 40$ wasted plus a SATA Raptor which I had oredred which I will have to sell off at a loss. So basicly $60 loss just becuase of a dumb screw hole!!!

I'm not saying I wouldn't be pissed off either - I would. But this is quite a rant over a defective product (that were you not where you are right now, you would be able to return/RMA for a working version).

You make it sound like they deliberately did this knowing you would be moving to a country where you couldn't swap it easily for a working one. No company has a 100% fault-free manufacturing process.

Hatim, as i said, ur a big loser. You hate Zalman just like all ur friends do on WC forums (WC is the local ISP in karachi). Basically, guys like him read 1 review and think they know everything.

I don't think ur product is missing screws, even if it is it only costs Rs 1 to buy new one.

Rs 1 here is 1/60 $. I already know his reason to hate Zalman and it does not include the missing screw.

Not trying to start a flame war but I don't see where he mentioned SCSI hardware anywhere in this thread. I'm not rich by a long shot, but I do like and have always used SCSI hardware myself.

I've been banned here too for posting the ugliest jokes, converted the udru jokes into english, it was horrible. Any way i think all those posts are still on AT. Search them urself and be surprized.

Anyway, WC sux for sure.

What an idiot He was banned from the local ISP thrice, got two other people banned and has already been banned before from anandtech.

You are probably right, my luck indeed SUX... :( :(

But I still can't forgive the fact that one small screw, probably the cheapest thing in the whole kit would be defective rendering the whole cooler useless :(

man what a long thread over a trival problem, yes sure i be pissed but i wont moan about it here and let others make a fool of me.

DEAL WITH IT.

Zalman have good support, i read some peeps broke the fan blades fitting GPU cooler and even then Zalman gave them a free replacement.

Contact Zalman, im sure they can post a small screw in envelope to your country even if they dont supply the full coolers to there.

Thats my advise, and stop reponding to the "stick" your getting here, it only feeds them.

Yeah, I'd just see if maybe you could contact Zalman directly. I had to give them a call because my 7000-AlCu was incompatible with the backplate on my DFI, and they promptly sent me a new one that fit. If it will only cost $6 to send a set of screws to Hirachi, I'm sure they'd have no problem doing so. Give it a try.

Just to add to that, DFI are to blame as they use a non standard backplate, all other NF4 makers have no fitting issues, DFI should sort but lucky Zalman came to rescue in meantime.

See above, he mentions a RAPTOR.

And for u Hatim, Don't act silly, i was banned there thanks to your friends who were not just under aged but admins (WTF). Secondly, u've acted a loser again by requesting to ban me. This won't help, i never complain about anyone no matter how rude he is to me but you, just like many ugly pakistani muslims, shame on you. Oh and yea, since u have mentioned the local ISP, ur banning streak is larger compared to mine.
