I been studying for 70-291 for a while doing practice tests.

I am sick of DNS. All day DNS DNS DNS.

I been having dreams of DNS.

ARG!!!!

Yeah, but it's kind of important. 😛

Setting up BIND is easy though, how much studying would you reallly have to do?

It's funny. I'm studying about DNS zones and fowarding etc, but now a days employeers want MCSE for help desk but I seriously doubt that doing help desk I'm ever going to need to configure zones. Isn't that what the big whig IT guys get paid to do?

The DNS is awesome, though. And usually only the DNS/Sysadmins actually do zone setups & RR configs. I cut my teeth on DNS - once you get it under your belt, you will use the hell out of it forever. Same goes for subnets 🙂

It comes in handy at some point, even if that point isn't now. 😛 I setup bind for fun at home, didn't do anything with it for a year and a half, then had to fiddle with Microsoft's DNS server for work.

I am always running into strange problems in Microsoft networks that are somehow DNS related to the client. Knowing what the computers are looking for in DNS helps a lot when troubleshooting why they take 5 minutes to log in, etc.

When I made the switch from NT 4 PDC/BDC to 2K ADS I hated Active-Directory because it did not make sense. But I stuck with it and learned the system and now we get along great.

heck, the entire world runs off DNS.

Microsoft active directory is even more dependant.

Live it, love it or fail.

😉
