AHHHHH

i have 4 computers in my house, my main machien, my secondary/network admin machine, my parent's machine, and a laptop that just hovers around.

they are all win2k except the laptop, which is 98.

and, NONE OF THEM work right. my main system won't read my DSL half the time, and it always gets memory leaks and the like. the secondary/network admin machien (that DHCP's out the DSL to the other comps sometimes) won't boot half the time, doens't always detect the hard disk, and locks up hard whenver you try and run any app using either Direct3D or OpenGL. My parents computer, i have no clue what is wrong, everything appears to work perfectly, but it won't connect to the DHCP network. cables are good, netwrok card is good (cahnged out 3 of em!) OS reinstalled, i have no clue what's wrong.

in conculsion.
I HATE WINDOWS.
im downloading linux in the background right now (my latest CD distro is out of date), ready to free myself of this bondage.

got 6 PC's all running variants of windows

2x W2k
1x Win ME
1x 98SE
1X Win NT
1x Win 95

All of them work great and I barely ever have any problems, pays to keep all your drivers and junk up to date. And I have a hardware router, works a lot better than ICS ever did.

I came in here expecting a thread on *glass* windows. :)

everyone hates Windows. Too bad all of this great software didn't run on a better platform.

that is impressive... i must say...

everyone hates Windows. Too bad all of this great software didn't run on a better platform.

i don't for a few reasons:

a.) yes, most software runs on windows.
b.) unix might be more stable, but i like the gui and i don't feel like setting up xwindows.
c.) win2k really isn't all that bad.

That has nothing to do with Windows.

Have you stopped to consider that maybe YOU are doing something wrong? I have three machines in my house all with windows and they work fine. Most of my friends run windows machines too with no problems. It's not the plane it's the pilot. RTFM!!!!

Especially bath tub windows!!!

As for Bowman795 windows, maybe you need a little help from friends and solve the problems one by one :)

Unless you really f***ed up your Windows 2000 installation, then there is no reason why it should have any memory leaks. Check all the software you have running - one of them is at fault, not Windows 2000.

One day, I was driving down the road, talking on my cell phone, eating a cheeseburger, changing the radio station, and trying to clean up the pop I just spilled on the floor. I ran into a telephone pole. MY CAR SUCKS! I HATE IT!
